During a town hall event on ABC on Tuesday night, President Donald Trump defended his administration's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and attempted to distance himself from his leaked admission that he "downplayed" the pandemic.During the event, hosted by George Stephanopoulos, Trump was repeatedly asked about the comments he made to journalist Bob Woodward in March that leaked earlier this month in which he said he wanted to "downplay" the pandemics so as "not to cause a panic."When Stephanopolous brought up the comments, Trump explained that he was simply saying he didn't "want to drive the nation into a panic.""I'm a cheerleader for this nation. My action was very strong," Trump said.Trump pointed to travel restrictions he imposed to China on Feb. 2 and on Europe on March 13 as evidence that he "up-played" his response to the virus. While Trump said that he wears masks "in hospitals" and in other situations, he added that "a lot of people think the masks are not good."When asked to clarify, Trump identified "waiters" and restaurant servers in particular, adding that a server "the other day" had been fidgeting with a mask while touching his plate."That can't be good," Trump said.In a press briefing on Wednesday, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that Trump "agreed with Dr. Fauci" and was pointing out the "unintended consequences" of wearing masks and highlighting proper mask-wearing techniques.The President also explained his skepticism by citing recommendations from the CDC and Dr. Anthony Fauci from March against wearing masks. At the time, health officials did not recommend the use of masks over a fear of nationwide shortage. EL CAJON (CNS) - A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot multiple times, possibly at a two-vehicle traffic crash in El Cajon, a police lieutenant said With details still sketchy, a little after 9:45 p.m. Saturday police received several calls of loud noises in the area of the 1500 block of East Washington Avenue, where officers discovered a man who appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds, said El Cajon police Lt. Walt Miller.Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital and officers also discovered a two-vehicle traffic crash in the same area.Multiple people fled from the crash, Miller said. (KGTV) - The San Diego Sheriff’s Office is investigating how several pounds of narcotics wound up magnetized to a man’s truck.A Mexican citizen who lives in Tijuana but works in El Cajon noticed a strange object in his fender Thursday morning and called authorities.Deputies found 4 packages containing roughly 5 pounds of narcotics hidden underneath the man’s pickup truck.The man’s next door neighbor informed them that they had seen men tampering with the victim’s truck overnight.“It’s our feeling that someone targeted this car because he could cross the border every day with the SENTRI pass and they were probably waiting to collect the narcotics later today,” said Sgt. Tim Chantler of the Sheriff’s office.Drivers with a SENTRI pass can travel in establishes dedicated commuter lanes to and cross the border faster after applying and being prescreened. Deputies are awaiting test results for the drugs but suspect either meth, heroin, or fentanyl.The driver is not considered a suspect as he called 911, according to authorities. “I would be checking my vehicle every day before I cross the border” said Sgt. (KGTV) – Two people died after being struck by an oncoming vehicle along I-8 Sunday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, a single vehicle was involved in a crash on I-8 near El Cajon Boulevard just before 1:30 a.m.Following the crash two good Samaritans stopped to help the man out of his vehicle.While the crash victim and one of the good Samaritans were talking on the side of the road, another vehicle failed to see them, striking and killing both victims, according to CHP.
