SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dozens of voters were left off the roster at a San Diego County polling place on Election Day, leading to frustration and delays. The problem was reported Tuesday morning at Pacific Trails Middle School at 5975 Village Center Loop Rd in Carmel Valley.Poll workers received an incomplete roster which omitted 46 names, Registrar of Voters Michael Vu confirmed. The list was missing two and a half pages.YOUR VOICE YOUR VOTE: 10News?Election CoverageVoters waited for voting officials to reprint another roster and deliver it to the polling place.Officials tried to ease the long line by calling the Registrar of Voters and getting approval for each person over the phone, a voter told 10News.Voters also had the option of voting provisionally, but many of them declined, telling 10News they wanted their votes to count. Provisional voting requires extra processing time to verify residences and identities. The San Diego Superior Court announced Monday it would have a judicial officer on hand to deal with any possible election-related issues, including registration, denial of registration of voters, certification or denial of certification of candidates or the certification or denial of certification of ballot measures.RELATED: Judicial officer on hand for Election DayVoters were encouraged to contact the Registrar of Voters at 858-565-5800 with any concerns. 1411

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Father Joe’s Villages will be making changes to how they serve their annual Thanksgiving meal due to the pandemic.Deacon Jim Vargas says the meals will be prepared ‘to go’ and given to people outdoors in their courtyard. As a result, they plan on needing fewer volunteers this year. Those that will be there to give out the meals will be wearing masks and practicing social distancing.Vargas says there is greater food insecurity in the community this year because of the pandemic. As a result, they are preparing more food.“We typically serve about 700 or so. We’re prepared to serve close to a thousand this year because we know there’s an increased need,” Vargas said.Anyone receiving a meal will also receive a backpack that comes with a face covering, hand sanitizer, and hygiene kits. The pandemic is also impacting their annual 5K, which is held at Balboa Park on Thanksgiving Day. This year, the event will be virtual, and Vargas says registration for the event is down. That concerns Vargas because it is their second-largest fundraiser for the year, which brings in about 0,000 for food services. 1135

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Housing is one of the main challenges to making it in San Diego, especially for renters dealing with steep price increases. 10News is exploring ways to save on added expenses associated with rentals. Move less often. Costs like rental applications and security deposits make up the majority of overhead expenses for renters. Staying in the same home for at least a year can reduce these expenses, according to HotPads. RELATED: Making it in San Diego: Renters can pay thousands per year in extra costsFind street parking. Rentals without parking spaces can often be found at a discounted rate. Just make sure parking is available within a reasonable distance of your new home. You may also consider giving up your car.Watch for move-in specials. If you’re looking for a home in a newly-built complex, you might find rent discounts, free parking, and free streaming services. Look for pet-friendly landlords. Some rental units have higher pet fees and deposits than others. Commit to a home. Long-term leases, such as 12 or 15 months, are often cheaper than 6 or 9 month options. You can save more money by sticking around longer. 1156

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Explosions in a fake Mission Valley city teach the public and West Coast gas employees how to save lives.Training Supervisor Scott Hazlett says it's as easy as calling 8-1-1 two days before you plan to do any digging on your property. The importance highlighted after a Murrieta home exploded Monday from an ignited natural gas leak, killing one man and forcing four families out of their homes."There's a lot of potential sources of ignition, cigarette liters, cellphones, cameras, drones anything like that can actually you know ignite the gas, and create what you saw here today," Hazlett said after demonstrating what 60 lbs. of natural gas pressure lit on fire looks like. Onlookers described it as a fireball, with heat radiating feet in all directions. The lines are generally between two and three feet underground. "I wouldn't say anyone's safe... Anytime you're moving the earth other than with your hand any kind of shovel, you need to call that number," he said.An SDGE employee will come out within two days after the call, mark where the natural gas lines are around your property, and do it all for free.Hazlett said accidents happen often and the number of calls for repairs skyrocketed in 2018. "Last year we had almost 300 that's almost one every single day," he said.He pointed at a display showing various ways pipes were punctured, stakes for Concrete pouring, rebar, a tree root, and a piece of heavy digging equipment raked a steep pipe.Any of those breaks could produce the tragedy that happened in Murrieta. "Public safety is #1, it's the biggest thing we have, it's the only thing we have," He said.Starting in July 2020, a new board will issue citations to those who do not call 8-1-1 in advance of digging on their property. Fines could cost up to ,000. 1809
