Chicago police announced at a Monday morning news conference that 66 people were shot, 12 of them fatally, between Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 11:59 p.m.Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. There are too many guns on the street, too many people with criminal records on the street, and there is a shortage of values about what is right and what is wrong," he added.Of the wounded who reported an age, the oldest was 62 and the youngest 11, police records show.Before the particularly violent Sunday, there were six shootings, none fatal, on Friday, and 15 shootings, one fatal, on Saturday. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) – A woman found dead on a Carlsbad hiking trail was stabbed to death, police revealed Tuesday.Carlsbad police said the 68-year-old white woman was walking or jogging Monday morning on the Hosp Grove Trail East, near the 2600 block of Monroe Street, when she was attacked.The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim, a Carlsbad resident, was stabbed to death.According to police, a tip has helped in identifying a man who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.The man was described as white or Hispanic, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a husky build and a tan complexion with dark hair. The tipster told police the man was wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and possibly a black hat.Police said the man was seen walking slowly with a slight shuffle or limp.Police noted that it is “unknown at this time if this person is related to the incident.”Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area of Hosp Grove Trail East, between 10 a.m.-12 p.m., is urged to call Carlsbad police at 760-931-2165.Police said in light of the incident, extra patrols have been assigned to the area. 1184

Can you spot a fake?Some US Customs and Border Protection officers did -- in September, they intercepted a shipment of over over 9,000 counterfeit Nike sneakers in New York, the agency said in a news release.The shipment of shoes had come from China and was headed to California, when CBP officers inspected it at the Port of New York/Newark.They thought something looked off about the shoes, and submitted images to the CBP's Apparel Footwear and Textiles Center for Excellence and Expertise, the agency's trade experts.On Thursday, the agency concluded the shoes were counterfeit and seized them. Real versions of the sneakers would have been worth nearly .7 million, according to CBP."This significant seizure of counterfeit Nike sneakers illustrates Customs and Border Protection's continued commitment to protecting the American consumer against the proliferation of substandard and potentially unsafe counterfeit consumer goods," stated Troy Miller, Director of CBP's New York Field Office, said in a statement Tuesday.On a typical day in 2017, CBP seized .3 million worth of products with Intellectual Property Rights violations in a day, according to the agency."Enforcing Intellectual Property Rights laws is a CBP priority trade mission," said Miller.
