WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama held a grand ceremony to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping Friday morning at the South Lawn of the White House.
Prior to his visit, Xi voiced his expectations for building "golden" ties with Britain.
He made the remarks Tuesday at a meeting attended by the heads of municipalities of Tianjin and Shanghai, provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei and Yunnan, as well as Guangxi Autonomous Region.
Britain has stated that it will be the Western country that is most open to China, Xi noted in an interview with Reuters ahead of his British trip.
Since the 1990s, major flash points between the two countries have concentrated around Taiwan. Now, the flash points have extended to the East and South China Seas.
