HANOI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee General Secretary Nong Duc Manh met with a Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation here on Friday.     The Chinese delegation is headed by He Yong, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and deputy secretary of CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.     During the meeting, Manh said Vietnamese party, government and people treasure the friendship with China. He said developing the Vietnam-China friendly relations serves the common interests and aspirations of the two peoples.     Manh said Vietnam would like to work together with China to enhance support for each other, deepen friendly cooperation of the two parties and two countries, and advance the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in a healthy and steady manner.     Manh said Vietnam is pleased to see that China has overcome various difficulties and challenges brought by the global financial crisis and achieved stable and relatively fast economic growth. Vietnam would like to share with China the experiences of dealing with global financial crisis as well as those of the reform and open-up causes.     For his part, He said in the past few years, China and Vietnam have seen frequent visits of high-level officials, strengthened mutual political trust, great outcomes on economic and trade cooperation and deepened exchanges of experiences in governing the party and the nation.     He said the two parties have also witnessed increased exchanges and cooperation in discipline inspection and fighting corruption.     He said China and Vietnam will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of diplomatic ties next year and at the same time embrace the Year of Friendship. He said China would like to work together with Vietnam to take this opportunity to enrich bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, further strengthen strategic mutual trust, deepen cooperation of mutual benefits, promote common development and push forward the relations of the two parties and two countries to a new stage.     He conveyed the greetings and best wishes from Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese President to Manh.     Manh asked He to pass his best wishes to Hu. He congratulated China on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China which is to fall on October 1. WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Visiting top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo on Thursday met with U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.     Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, was the first top Chinese legislator that has visited the United States during the past two decades.     Before meeting with Obama, Wu met U.S. Vice President Joe Biden at the White House. Wu will hold talks with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton later in the day. BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- China's Supreme People's Court issued a new regulation Tuesday to encourage parties involved in conflicts to mediate for resolution.     The regulation is in response to a rapid increase in lawsuits during the past two years.     It clarifies transitional procedures for parties to cease actions in the people's courts and turn instead to industrial or community mediation.     The move is an attempt to bring social organizations into play at an action's early stage to ease public discontent and prevent aggravation of resentment and tension. It is in accord with the new objective of a harmonious society outlined by the Communist Party of China and the government.     According to the court's statistics, lawsuits for criminal, civil affairs and administrative issues submitted to courts around the country in 2007 increased by 7 percent from 2006 to 5,550,062 cases. The courts handled 6,288,831 lawsuits in 2008, 13.31 percent up from 2007.     "Entering a transitional period of development, Chinese society is encountering an increasing number of new contradictions and problems it has never before experienced," said court spokesman Sun Jungong Tuesday.     "Mediation bodies need to be strengthened to make a bigger contribution to the resolution of disputes," he said.     The regulation means agreements achieved in arbitration or mediation by administrative bodies, mercantile organizations and industrial groups will have the same force in law as those judged by the people's courts.     "The courts at all levels should guide mediation and arbitration methods in a scientific, fair and rational way as well as act as supervisors and executors of agreements," said Jiang Huiling, vice director of the SPC's judicial reform office.

BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's ChangAn Auto Co., Ltd., a leading domestic auto maker, announced Saturday that its sales volume rose more than 82 percent year on year last month.     The Chongqing-based company sold 107,863 units of vehicles in July, up 82.4 percent year on year, it said in a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.     The company produced 118,037 units of vehicles in July, up 64.9 percent year on year.     The Shenzhen-listed firm's shares had fallen 5.24 percent to 10.31 yuan a share Friday before the release of the report.
