Some of the things we would recommend are hindered by COVID-19, especially with the escalating rates. So, things like getting outside might be risky for some people with the transmission of COVID -19, so we’re thinking about some of the basic things to just take care of yourself. What are your coping skills? What are things that do get you involved and happy and excited?" says Dr. Apryl Alexander, a psychologist and professor at the University of Denver.Dr. Alexander says a recent study from the American Psychological Association reports that eight in 10 Americans are feeling stressed because of COVID-19. Even though we're in a pandemic, Dr. Alexander says it's still important to socialize, especially if you are prone to seasonal depression."So, how can you maintain those social connections during this time, whether its dance parties we’ve had in our department during COVID-19 to engaging with your family members on Zoom or other forms of social media," says Dr. Alexander.Dr. Alexander also says many psychologists and therapists are offering virtual sessions, so it's important to take advantage of tele-mental health visits. The Navy’s newest, most high-tech nuclear submarines use at least one piece of technology that millions of children use every day — a video game controller.According to The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia, the Navy is replacing traditional periscopes on its Virginia-class nuclear submarines with high resolution cameras that will be controlled with Xbox 360 controllers.According to the Virginian-Pilot, the cameras were originally designed to be controlled with a “helicopter-style” joystick. That design was quickly dropped after officials got feedback from a group of Navy junior officers.Lt. j.g. Kyle Leonard, the assistant weapons officer on the USS John Warner — one of the Virginia-class submarines based in Norfolk — told the Virginian-Pilot that many sailors found the joystick clunky to hold and hard to use.The solution? The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher says she expects to begin the manual recount process at 11 a.m. ET Friday.This comes after a Thursday order from the Secretary of State to complete a manual recount statewide for the Senate race and Agriculture Commissioner's race.Palm Beach County also must complete a manual recount for a State House race.Manual recounts are required when a candidate’s margin of victory is less than .25 percent.However, Bucher said first, they need to complete the machine recount for the Senate race before they can begin the manual recount.She said they have not completed the tabulation process to come up with vote totals for the Senate race to find all the over and under votes.“We just want to get to a place where we should start a manual recount. Right now we’re incomplete and we’re incomplete for various reasons, mostly because there were requirements that we show some duplicated, damaged ballots, and haven’t run those and requirements that we canvass ballots for over and under votes that were duplicated by staff," Bucher said.  "So, we’ve completed that process, but now we have to go run them through our tabulators to get the rest of our over unders.”  They do not have to manually recount every single ballot, only ones considered overvotes or undervotes.An overvote is a ballot in which the voter appeared to vote for more than one candidate in a race, and an undervote is a ballot in which the voter appeared to vote for no candidate in a race.An election worker, along with a representative from each political party, will review the ballots in question. The Internal Revenue Service says its processing systems are back up and running after they went down on Tuesday, which was the filing deadline for 2018.The IRS said in a statement it has accepted more than 14 million tax submissions since processing systems reopened.The Tuesday morning system outage was caused by a hardware issue.
