The U.S. Department of Justice is at polling locations in 19 states to ensure federal voting rights laws are being followed. There are also thousands of people with civil rights and voting advocacy groups watching the polls. One place they're concerned about voter suppression is Dodge City, Kansas.Jose Vargas, Marilyn Horsch and Rita Schweitz all traveled to Dodge City to help voters.  "We were really angry and thought maybe there’s something we can do to help," says Schweitz, who flew in from Denver, CO.  They’re all here because they’re angry that the town’s polling place was moved, without much notice. They are calling it voter suppression.“Designed to frustrate the voter, to make people give up,” says Horsch. For years, the town’s polling place was right in the middle of Dodge City. But this year, the county election officer, citing construction projects, decided to move to a different location that is four miles away. The new location is outside city limits, and there’s no access to sidewalks and it’s cut off from public transportation. The ACLU sued Dodge City, asking a judge to force the county to open a second polling location for the town's 27,000 residents. A judge denied the request, so the ACLU emailed election officer Debbie Cox, asking for help publicizing a voter help line. The Wichita Eagle reported that Cox then sent that on to the Secretary of State's office, adding “LOL” to the email. So, volunteers like Jose Vargas, Marilyn Horsch and Rita Schweitz are offering bus rides from the old location to the new one to ensure voters get to the poll. They rented a bus to shuttle voters to ensure they’d be able to cast their votes. 1682

The University of Florida's football team is suspending activities following an “increase” in COVID-19 cases among members of the team, the university announced on Tuesday. The announcement comes just days after head coach Dan Mullen called on the university to open Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to a full capacity of 90,000 for the rest of the season. The state of Florida currently does not have a capacity restriction on stadiums."I know our governor passed that rule, so certainly, hopefully the university administration decides to let us pack the Swamp against LSU … 100 percent, because that crowd was a major factor in the game,” Mullen said following last Saturday’s 41-38 loss against Texas A&M. “So, I certainly hope our university administration follows the governor. The governor has passed a rule that we're allowed to pack the Swamp and have 90,000 in the Swamp to give us the home-field advantage Texas A&M had."The stadium is currently open at 20% capacity.Athletics director Scott Stricklin said the suspension was out of an “abundance of caution.”Sports Illustrated reported that the Gators had five new coronavirus cases identified on Tuesday. As of Tuesday afternoon, this Saturday’s game between Florida and LSU is still on as scheduled. 1269

The Seattle City Council unanimously approved a law on Tuesday that will raise the minimum pay for Uber and Lyft drivers. In a statement on the Seattle mayor's website, Mayor Jenny Durkan celebrated the city council passing her Fare Share Plan that would make ride-hailing companies pay their drivers the minimum hourly wage, which will go into effect Jan. 1, 2021."The pandemic has exposed the fault lines in our systems of worker protections, leaving many front line workers like gig workers without a safety net," Mayor Durkan said. "It is more important than ever that we add to the economic resilience of our community of drivers. The Fare Share plan guarantees that drivers will receive fair pay and can provide for themselves and their families."The ordinance guarantees drivers will earn at least The Trump administration is taking steps to give telehealth a broader role under Medicare, with an executive order that serves as a call for Congress to make doctor visits via personal technology a permanent fixture of the program. The order President Donald Trump signed Monday applies to one segment of Medicare recipients — people living in rural communities. But administration officials say it’s intended as a signal to Congress that Trump is ready to sign more significant legislation that would permanently open up telehealth as an option for all people with Medicare. Trump says his administration is “taking action to make sure telehealth is here to stay.”"When the invisible enemy struck our shores, we took immediate action to eliminate regulatory barriers to telehealth, making it easier for patients to consult with doctors from safety and convenience and really, they have great safety and great convenience right from their homes," Trump said. While the CDC said in June it was working on expanding access to telehealth, it did list some drawbacks to the service:Situations in which in-person visits are more appropriate due to urgency, underlying health conditions, or inability to perform an adequate physical examThe need to address sensitive topics, especially if there is patient discomfort or concern for privacyLimited access to technological devices (e.g., smartphone, tablet, computer) needed for a telehealth visit or connectivity issuesLevel of comfort with technology for HCP and patientsCultural acceptance of conducting virtual visits in lieu of in-person visits by HCP and patientsInterstate licensure challenges and other regulatory issues that may vary by state 1701.56 per minute and .33 per mile driven while transporting passengers. The measure uses a formula for drivers' compensation so they would be paid fairly when they're less busy. 994

The timelines on your Instagram accounts have probably been flooded recently with women posting black-and-white pictures of themselves. The premise of the viral trend comes as a way for women to support each other with the accompaniment of the hashtag #ChallengeAccepted in their caption. The origins of the first picture used in the trend were traced by Taylor Lorenz of The New York Times. Lorenz found that a journalist in Brazil posted the very first picture in the challenge. There had been reports that the challenge first began in order to bring awareness about femicide in Turkey, but Lorenz spoke to Instagram and tweeted that the hashtag in Turkey and the United States were unrelated. 700
