A City of Long Beach flag was stolen and replaced with a Trump campaign flag outside the city’s police department public safety building over the weekend.A padlock was placed on the flagpole by the people responsible to prevent the “Make American Great Again” flag from being removed.The department says because of the construction, access has been limited to primarily construction employees. The flagpoles are only accessible from a small, secured parking lot which houses a construction trailer, police said in a release.Video shared by local media shows the campaign flag alongside the American flag and California State flag. 638

A COVID-19 outbreak within the University of Florida's football program has prompted the Southeastern Conference to postpone Saturday's matchup between the No. 10 Gators and the defending national champion LSU Tigers.The game is tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12, the SEC said in a statement.On Tuesday, Florida suspended football activities after seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases.According to the Associated Press, 19 Gators players, head coach Dan Mullen, and two assistant coaches have tested positive for the virus.This marks the second SEC game to be postponed this week because of COVID-19. The SEC postponed the game between Vanderbilt Commodores and Missouri Tigers after a virus outbreak within the Commodores program.That game is also tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12. 791

A group of California lawmakers is raising new questions about what the state is getting in return for the billions of dollars it has spent combating its homeless crisis.The seven lawmakers, all Republicans, are calling for an audit that will need bipartisan support to get going. In the last two years, California has invested .7 billion on homelessness, and Gov. Gavin Newsom is budgeting an additional .4 billion in next year's budget. Meanwhile, the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development says California's homeless population increased by 16 percent last year, or 21,306 people. "I don't know where that money is going, and it's being approved by the legislature," said State Sen. Brian Jones, Republican of San Diego County's 38th district, who is calling for the audit. "So if I don't know where it's going, how can the taxpayers know where it's going?"Newsom's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Last week, Newsom unveiled a proposal for .4 billion to overhaul medi-cal and create a new fund that would serve in part to help people on the brink of homelessness make rent. San Diego homeless advocate Michael McConnell, who is not a member of a political party, said he has been asking many of the questions those seeking the audit are raising. "We know the big buckets that the money just kind of disappears into, but what we don't do is we don't follow it all the way through to see how many folks were actually getting out of homelessness," he said. The state's Joint Legislative Audit Committee, comprised mostly of Democrats, will consider the audit request at its Feb. 19 meeting. A man in Gloucester Township, New Jersey who was being booked for an outstanding warrant found himself in even more trouble after deputies said he vomited 32 small bags of heroin last week, the Courier-Post reported. Michael Rosario, 24, was arrested last Thursday after he was pulled over for speeding, and then was charged with giving police a phony name. Rosario allegedly sped past police, and switched seats with his passenger after he was pulled over. Police said they found six bags of heroin and 13 empty bags with heroin residue, the Courier-Post reported. Once at the county jail, police claim that Rosario vomited one large bag filled with 32 smaller bags full of heroin, prompting additional drug-related charges. Rosario was then taken to an area hospital, but has since been returned to the jail.  859
