And then there’s the young people.“The universities are huge and growing and the students seem to be more active.”That’s a change from the new residents Arizona is often known for attracting. “It was a haven for retirees and snowbirds,” she said. “People who don't really want to pay taxes and moved here for those reasons.”State voter registration statistics show a record number of registered voters in Arizona as of November 2020, with just over 4.2 million. Ronald “Khalis” Bell, a co-founder and singer of the group Kool & the Gang, has died. He was 68. Publicist Sujata Murthy says Bell died Wednesday morning at his home in the U.S. Virgin Islands with his wife by his side. The cause of death has not been released. Kool & the Gang grew from jazz roots in the 1960s to become one of the major groups of the 1970s, blending jazz, funk, R&B and pop.
