US President Donald Trump has said his administration was being "very tough" with Saudi Arabia as it investigates Khashoggi's case. But Trump said Thursday that he was reluctant to take action, particularly on the issue of arms sales. "There are other things we can do," he told reporters at the White House."I don't like the concept of stopping an investment of 0 billion into the United States because you know what they're going to do, they're going to take that money and spend it in Russia or China," Trump said, referring to a US arms deal with Saudi Arabia. "If it turns out to be as bad as it might be, there are certainly other ways of handling the situation."The US signed a nearly 0 billion defense deal with Saudi Arabia in May 2017, when Trump made Saudi Arabia a stop on his first foreign trip as president. The stop was seen, in part, as an endorsement of the strong relationship between Trump, Jared Kushner -- his son-in-law and senior adviser -- and bin Salman.France's Foreign Ministry said it had demanded that Saudi Arabia provide a "complete and detailed response" with regard to the reported killing of Khashoggi, whose disappearance "raises serious questions about his fate.""France demands that the facts are clearly established," the ministry said.Gulf Arab states came out in support of Saudi Arabia, however, in the first wave of official reactions from its neighbors. In a tweet Thursday, the United Arab Emirates' Foreign Minister, Anwar Gargash, called media reports on the matter "a fierce campaign" run in coordination with "inciting parties.""The repercussions of political targeting of Saudi Arabia will be dire on those who inflame it," he said.Bahrain's Foreign Minister, Khalid bin Ahmad, said that "Saudi Arabia is the target, not the search for truth."  1802

Vlad Vanchanka lost his pet of nearly 10 years earlier this month. His cat was relaxing on a patio chair around 6 a.m.A coyote approached the cat in the backyard. Video shows the cat trying to scare it away, but another coyote entered the yard and grabbed the cat."We saw the coyotes pretty much attack and kill it," Vanchanka said.Vanchanka said the cat would only go outside when the weather was nice but mostly stayed indoors. He checked security cameras when the cat did not return."It was a good animal. I never had a problem and usually it was indoors. It liked to go outside just to walk around," he said.Vanchanka located his cat's remains not far from his home.Another Florida homeowner, Mark Wigley, lost his cat to a coyote attack. His cat, Tippy, went outside in August and never returned home."It was devastating. He was definitely part of the family and when he did stay in at night, he liked to sleep on my chest," Wigley said.Wigley located his cat's remains in a neighbor's backyard."They're predators and they're doing what they're born to do. I blame myself," Wigley said.Florida wildlife officials warn coyotes that do prey on domestic cats and small dogs. Most coyote attacks on pets happen either at night, in the early evenings or early mornings.According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), coyotes rarely pose a threat to people, especially adults. They can be curious and also timid and generally run away if challenged.FWC says coyotes will typically leave the area when humans make loud noises and act aggressively. Humans may need to continue hazing efforts until the coyote is effectively deterred and leaves the area for good. This story was originally published by Julie Salomone on 1742

We get a lot of calls, conversation, and it seems to keep crime control, gun safety, things like that on the minds of many of the residents, because people are constantly talking about the gun law, said Lt. Graydon. "So that's been somewhat of a benefit to us." 261

Trump's anger boiled over in June, too, when the President pushed then-chief of staff Reince Priebus to obtain Sessions' resignation, according sources familiar with the exchange. Priebus later said that he talked Trump out of the firing. 238
