SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspect was arrested Sunday morning after reportedly stealing someone’s car and stabbing the owner who tried to prevent the theft.According to police, the incident happened around 9:10 a.m. on the 2800 block of Jarvis Street in Point Loma.When the owner of the car tried to stop the man, the suspect stabbed the victim. Police say the suspect then drove to the Fashion Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center to get help.RELATED: Car slams into house in San Diego's Skyline neighborhoodA short time later, the suspect was picked up by two other people in a red Ford SUV before police stopped the three at Ocean Beach and took them all into custody.The suspect was eventually arrested and the other two people in the SUV released. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A University City woman is searching desperately for what she says is worthless to a thief, but priceless to her.Cassie Moua's wedding outfit, which her grandmother made for her over 15 years, was stolen out of the trunk of her husband's car the week after her wedding. "It's been sitting in a closet for 15 years, waiting for the day I get married," Cassie said. "I get married and a week later, it's gone."Cassie married David Lawrence on Feb. 29 at her father's house in Scripps Ranch. She wore a traditional Hmong wedding outfit, including a black jacket with embroidery, a black apron with embroidery, and a white skirt with a pink belt. That dress, however, is now in the hands of a thief. Sometime during the night of Friday, March 6, a thief got into David's car, stealing the suitcase from the trunk with the wedding outfit inside. Cassie says there were no signs of forcible entry and she believes the thief may have used a device to spoof the remote and unlock the car. It was parked in the lot of their apartment complex, near the corner of Nobel and Cargill Avenue in North University City.Cassie says she went to the car on Saturday morning to go grocery shopping, and saw the hood popped, trunk opened, glove compartment ajar, and items spread out all over the seats. She says she does not care about other stolen items like a pet transporter and tire chains stolen, but is now on a mission to get the outfit back. "Since it happened, I've been driving around the neighborhood, looking in little pockets and corners, hoping to see abandoned clothes or an abandoned suitcase," she said. Cassie has since posted more than 20 fliers in the area around her complex. She hopes to get the outfit back to keep as a family heirloom, and that if the thief has a change of heart - no questions asked. San Diego Police say there is no suspect identified. They say in addition to the wedding outfit, two pairs of sunglasses were stolen. The police report says the thief accessed an unlocked vehicle. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Solana Beach man is back in San Diego still recovering from a spinal cord injury that happened halfway around the world in Bali.Anthony Galvan-Schaible's journey happened during the pandemic and even though he's back home, there are months of intensive rehab ahead.Schaible went to Bali in February with plans to stay until April. Then the pandemic started and he had to stay.In late July, Schaible was in a motorcycle accident that left him with a spinal cord injury. He required emergency surgery halfway around the world.RELATED: Local man's trip to Bali takes unexpected turn after crashHis mom flying to be by his side."Pretty much just got stronger and we had to figure out how to fly business class," Schaible said before his return.Two weeks ago, Schaible made it back home, transferred to UCSD La Jolla after three flights and 36 hours of travel with doctors on board."Definitely noticing myself get a little stronger as the days go by but next is an acute rehab facility," said Schaible.In the coming days, Schaible will move to Loma Linda University inpatient rehab. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An inmate at R.J. Donovan State Prison has filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.Anand Jon Alexander filed the complaint on Monday, alleging prison officials failed to keep him safe and to provide adequate medical care after he was assaulted behind bars.In the complaint, Alexander claims he was attacked by another inmate while waiting to make a phone call on May 18, 2019. He was allegedly stabbed multiple times in the face and kicked on the ground.After the attack he sustained “five facial fractures, a lower orbital floor blowout, sinus and nasal fractures, a deviated septum, a 50% abrasion to the right cornea, long term impairment of his vision and respiration, serious nerve damage, PTSD” according to the complaint.Alexander is 12 years in to a 59 year sentence after he was convicted of rape in 2008.An up and coming fashion designer, Alexander had been featured on “America’s Next Top Model” and was listed in Newsweek’s “Who’s Next in 2007.”But his career was put on hold after being accused by multiple women of sexual assault.Many of the charges were dropped, but he was convicted on one count of rape and 15 other counts following a trial in Los Angeles. The jury found him not guilty or were hung on several other counts.Alexander has maintained his innocence. In the complaint, his lawyer writes he “has acknowledged the existence of blurred lines between his personal and professional relationships…Nevertheless, he holds steadfast to his innocence.”The American Justice Alliance, a group which seeks to free prisoners who have been wrongfully convicted, submitted an amicus brief to the Federal Central District Court.In it, they wrote Alexander “was targeted by a collusion of disgruntled business associates and some former girlfriends, who have admitted they were out to “bring him down,” and “get revenge,” seeking notoriety and monetary benefits. He was then subject to a prosecution and trial riddled with extraordinary police misconduct.”The lawsuit names CDCR as well as Marcus Pollard, the Warden of R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility and Daniel Paramo, the former Warden.It alleges prison officials failed to protect Alexander from harm and after he was injured gave “deliberate indifference to Mr. Alexander’s medical condition.”They are seeking unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.So far, no criminal charges have been filed against the assailant. 10News reached out to CDCR for comment but had not heard back before the story was published. 2557

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego-based U.S. Coast Guard crew rescued a man having a heart attack on board a tanker off Point Loma Tuesday morning.The Chembulk New York, a 525-foot tanker vessel, radioed the Coast Guard for help Monday at 4:15 p.m. At the time, the ship was 370 miles southwest of San Diego, Coast Guard officials reported.A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter left San Diego at 10:45 p.m. to rendezvous with the ship, which changed course to facilitate the medical evacuation.At 1:30 a.m., the helicopter crew arrived and hoisted the man on board. The crew flew him to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.The man was reported to be in stable condition, according to the Coast Guard. 708
