Brothers Zach and Asher Swazey are putting together their own newscasts.Its called “SGN San Diego.” The newscast is filled with good news.“You want to have something that will affect people in a positive way,” says 13-year-old Zach.The brothers are now working on episode two. They say it was a lot of work putting everything together.“It took us 2-3 weeks,” says ten-year-old Asher. “We went through multiple stages of editing. It took a little of time to make the script and film.”The boys say they were inspired to start SGN San Diego after watching actor and filmmaker John Krasinski on Youtube.The boys say their video is getting more views, but their headline is to make people feel good.“When you’re making a YouTube channel, it’s not about how many likes you get or how many subscribers, it’s how it affects people.”The brothers say their parents are also a big help. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Cesar Rivera thought he'd achieved the American Dream when he and his wife bought a house just north of Mission Valley. "I moved in, I loved the area, I loved my neighbors," he says. "I want my boys to have this house when we grow old."But whether Rivera's family will last in long enough in the area remains to be seen. These days, Rivera is on anxiety medication. He says it's because of the home next door that became a vacation rental shortly after he moved in. He says it can rage any night of the week. "They go on arguing and yelling, and they're out there for hours," Rivera said. "They don't stop. He also says the owner, Lael Volage, is not responsive: a claim she vehemently disputes. At any rate, it's exactly the situation the City Council aimed to avoid when it passed strict regulations in 2018. The rules would have limited vacation rentals to primary homes and structures on the same parcel. The rules also would have required many hosts to pay a 5 fee to fund a new enforcement division that would have worked evenings and weekends. But Airbnb led a successful referendum, and the council rescinded the law. "It's a free-for-all," said Volage. "Nobody wants a party at their house. We try to regulate it. "If you're a homeowner, you're allowed to have a barbeque, you're allowed to have beer pong in the backyard, and be able to have some music playing until 6, 7, 8, 9 even 10 o'clock," Volage said. She said vacationers should have the same rights, and that Rivera's problem is that his bedroom is right above the street. San Diego Police say they have been called to Volage's rental three times since May for noise complaints. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than .4 million over three months across San Diego County's ports of entry, according to the agency.CBP says the undeclared money bound for Mexico was seized between April and June at ports of entry including Calexico, Otay Mesa, Cross Border Xpress, San Ysidro, and Tecate, CBP says.One of the largest stops occurred in May when a vehicle was stopped in Otay Mesa and discovered money hidden in boxes with other items in the cargo area of the vehicle."These various interdictions by our vigilant officers are just a fraction of the regular attempts we see during the year," said Pete Flores, Director of Field Operations for CBP in San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities responded to a riot Friday night at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in Otay Mesa that left five people injured, including at least one with serious injuries.Cal Fire San Diego said about 100 inmates were in the prison yard when a fight broke out around 8 p.m. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said Saturday that number was closer to 80 inmates.CDCR said officers gave multiple orders to stop fighting, before using several rounds of less-than-lethal force to stop the incident.Four inmate-made weapons were recovered, CDCR said.Five inmates were injured and had to be transported outside the prison for treatment, for injuries including puncture wounds, cuts, and bruises to the head, neck, and torso areas, CDCR says. Cal Fire had previously reported that six inmates were transferred from the scene.One of those inmates suffering from puncture wounds was in critical condition. Three inmates were in fair condition and the fifth was treated and returned to prison, CDCR said.No prison staff members were injured.The facility canceled visitation for Facility A Saturday and Sunday in light of the riot. 1175

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- At least six people were injured Thursday morning after a head-on crash in Dulzura.According to Cal Fire San Diego, the crash happened on state Route 94 near Otay Truck Trail at around 7:30 a.m.The circumstances surrounding the crash are still unclear, but Cal Fire says one person was taken to the hospital with major injuries, and five others had minor injuries.The condition of the person rushed to the hospital is unclear at this time. 468
