SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A big rig tipped over in North County Tuesday afternoon, spilling debris onto the road and forcing a hazmat team into action. According to authorities, the truck tipped over near eastbound SR-78 at Vista Village Drive just before noon. The incident caused house demolition debris and diesel from the big rig to spill all over the road. In total, about 30 gallons of diesel spilled onto the road. Crews used dirt and kitten litter to clean up the fuel. Firefighters, CHP, deputies and hazmat crews all responded to the scene. The incident caused the hours-long closure of the Vista Village overpass. At this time, it's unclear what caused the truck to tip over. The driver was uninjured.  750

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A break-in at a home Wednesday left a newlywed couple without some wedding gifts and priceless family heirlooms."Just makes me sad this happened," said Lucy Piccinini, choking back tears.Lucy and her husband, Chris, recently married and bought their first home together in San Carlos. Chris discovered the break-in when he got home Wednesday. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Thunderstorms are occurring Wednesday throughout San Diego County in the midst of a heat wave.Coastal areas, the inland valleys, the deserts and the mountains will all have a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.A high pressure system hanging over the Four Corners region is causing our heat wave while monsoonal moisture from Mexico is generating precipitation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A City pool is now drained and shut down after vandals threw glass into it.Parents who bring their kids to the Allied Gardens pool for swim lessons were notified on Monday of the closure. "Honestly my reaction, I just kind of sat there dumbfounded, they called and said the classes were canceled, me being curious I asked why, they said vandalism. I said you have to be kidding. This is my neighborhood!" said Marie Veenstra, a mom of three.She says two of her children attend lessons at the pool on Glenroy Street four days a week. "It is super frustrating, not only as a mom who can't bring her kids to the pool, but thinking about the environment," said Veenstra.The City says broken shards of glass can be impossible to see or retrieve without draining the pool. Broken glass found in and around the pool results in having to drain the pool completely, conduct a thorough cleaning of the pool bottom to retrieve remaining pieces of glass, refill the pool with water and necessary chemicals to ensure the pool is safe and then reopen the facility.The City's safety protocol is consistent with the Model Aquatic Health Code. Draining and refilling the more than 320,000-gallon pool will cost the City roughly ,000 when factoring in personnel. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - With just a few days left of Daylight Saving Time, bicycle riders can go to the Central Library today to pick up lights, courtesy of the San Diego County Bike Coalition.Standard Time, when we move the clock back one hour, arrives Sunday morning, meaning that nightfall will arrive 60 minutes earlier.The Bike Coalition will hand out front and rear lights from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the library in the East Village at 330 Park Blvd.Coalition members will also encourage safe, nighttime commuting with safety information about riding in the dark.State law requires that people riding their bikes at night have functioning front and rear lights, according to the coalition. 699
