Now, there are apps that allow you to skip the phone call and get your food delivered straight to your door with just a few taps on a phone screen.We looked at some of the top food delivery apps to find out which is the best one to download. The apps include Postmates, Uber Eats, Door Dash and Eat 24.All four apps have slight differences when it comes to restaurants, fees and how easy they are to use. Not every app has the same restaurants on them, so you might have to use an app that has the restaurant of your liking.Door Dash was the simplest app to use because there weren’t that many choices or suggestions to help you choose what to eat.Eat 24, like many of the other apps offered food categories like American, Asian and Mexican to help you narrow down your choices.We found when placing your order on each app you had to add your credit card and address, but for Uber Eats you did not. If you have an Uber Ride Share account, it's automatically synced up to that app. It cut the ordering time in half if you were a new user.Although we used Postmates for ordering food, we learned you can use the app for ordering anything. Some use Postmates to order clothes to be picked up or getting an item from the drug store delivered to their house.No matter which app you use there’s a place to save money by adding a promo code. But, you’ll need to watch out for hidden service fees outside of the usual delivery and tax fee.A great feature all the apps have are alerts or push notifications letting you know where your food is and when it will be delivered.Almost every app delivered the food we ordered 10 minutes earlier than their estimated arrival time. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Hornets have suspended radio play-by-play broadcaster John Focke indefinitely after he used a racial slur on his Twitter account. Focke used the slur while tweeting about the Jazz-Nuggets playoff game. He has since deleted the tweet and apologized, saying it was a typo. CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (KGTV) — The last two cottages to grace San Onofre Beach and replace the deteriorated trailers near Camp Pendleton will be dedicated Thursday.The Camp Pendleton Cottage Renovation Project has worked to replace 13 of the 30-year-old FEMA trailers at the beach with manufactured homes. The new cottages are build using metal roofs, composite siding, stainless-steel appliances, and furniture. Cottages are also constructed to include wheelchair accessibility, railings, and wider hallways for service members with special needs. CDC Director Robert Redfield gave a dire warning of a “rough” winter ahead as hospitals fill with coronavirus patients across the United States, he said in a discussion with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation on Wednesday.According to data compiled by the COVID Tracking Project, COVID-19 hospitalizations nearly reached 100,000 on Tuesday, a point much higher than the spring and summer surges of the virus. There were nearly 2,500 coronavirus-related deaths throughout the US reported on Tuesday, marking levels not seen since the spring.And with millions of Americans returning from holiday gatherings last week, the level of illnesses could increase in the coming weeks."December and January and February are gonna be rough times. I actually believe they're gonna be the most difficult time in the public health history of this nation,” Redfield said.As of Tuesday afternoon, there have been 272,000 coronavirus-related deaths in the US since March. Redfield said his expectation is that the total could reach 450,000 in the next two months, which would place the average number of deaths per day between now and then at 3,000.Despite the tremendous toll the virus has taken on humanity, Redfield also recognized there is an economic loss associated with the virus.“Probably one of our greatest casualties of the pandemic this year was the impact on the business community, and on just general health care, the impact on our children’s education,” Redfield said.But as virus cases are surging, public health experts say there is light at the end of the tunnel.
