AURORA, Colo. — When a fawn found itself in the basement foundation of a home under construction, it was firefighters to the rescue. On Sunday evening, residents in a southeast Aurora, Colorado neighborhood called on three of their neighbors, who happened to be off-duty members of South Metro Fire Rescue and the Thornton Fire Department, to rescue the young deer. When it was first lifted out of the basement foundation, it ran to the edge of the property and tried to squeeze through metal fencing, but couldn't fit. The firefighters gave the animal another boost over the fence and it bounded away, said a spokesperson with SMFR.  692

BALTIMORE — It's not just the news of a Free Little Library being vandalized that is turning heads in a Baltimore community. The narration of the crime itself is worth its weight in laughter."I thought it was hilarious when I sped it up and cut it," said Jacqui Cummings. "I said to myself, 'you don't need to fight over it, just make a joke of it.'"The initial vandalism happened on November 7th around 8 p.m. outside Notre Maison Connects. The non-profit focuses on empowering youth while supporting families and strengthening communities.Cummings is the founder of the organization. She said when she first saw the damage, she shed a tear."I did because I do a lot of work myself," she said.Cummings is no stranger to hands-on-work. AstraZeneca is the latest drugmaker to announce promising Phase 3 trial results from its COVID-19 vaccine candidate.On Monday, AstraZeneca said its two-shot vaccine candidate has been 90% effective thus far along with no safety concerns.“These findings show that we have an effective vaccine that will save many lives," said Professor Andrew Pollard, the chief executive of the study.
