A workplace needed to have a 3.5 out of 5 overall rating, and workplace factor ratings in career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values, senior management, and work-life balance of at least 2.5.For the eleventh year in a row, Boston-based consulting firm Bain & Company took the top spot. Bain operates 57 offices in 36 countries, Glassdoor reports. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County needs to stay off the state watch list for two weeks straight for most schools to reopen in-person. But, some schools won’t have to wait that long.As of Friday afternoon, 56 elementary schools applied for a waiver through the county health department. If approved, it would allow them to bring students back on campus regardless of our status on the state watch list.The waiver is only open to schools serving K-6 students. Once applications are reviewed by the county they’ll be sent to Sacramento.“The state can give input or guidance,” said Supervisor Nathan Fletcher. “If we don’t hear back in three days then those will be approved.”Mt. Helix Academy in La Mesa submitted their application this week.“I’m hoping to hear back from the state and the county by next week.” Said Director, Mike Collins. “Our plan is to welcome students back on campus on Monday August 31st when we’re ready for those kids.”The school has been open for summer programs where they implemented new safety measures like masks, frequent cleaning, and social distancing.“I saw all the students had their masks on and I made a big deal, ‘Everyone has their masks on! We’re so happy!’” said Collins. “We really try to encourage our students.”For the wavier to get approved the county reviews each applicant’s proposed safety plan. They’re looking for things like having adequate personal protective equipment and if students can be kept in small groups.County Montessori School in Poway has been fine-tuning their safety measures through their summer programs.They took advantage of the waiver process right away.“The application became available last Friday night and we applied Monday,” said Head of School, Adela Corrales. “If our waiver comes through next week we’re prepared to open on site on August 24th”The county told ABC 10News they were still reviewing applications late Friday afternoon and had not sent any to the state for approval yet. 1971

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego and National City police departments announced several arrests Friday in violent crime cases over about two years in central San Diego and the South Bay.Police said in a release the crimes occurred between April 2018 and February 2020 in the Bay Terraces, Mountain View, and Shelltown neighborhoods, and the National City area.Many cases appeared to be linked to the same suspects, police added, and a gang allegation was attached to each crime:John Orozco, 26, of El Cajon, was arrested on Nov. 11, 2020, for the murder of Joaquin Ruiz on July 12, 2019, the attempted murder of Julio Martull on July 24, 2019, and other related crimes.Ethan Apan, 28, of National City, was arrested on Nov. 17, 2020, for the murder of Joaquin Ruiz on July 12, 2019, the attempted murder of Julio Martull on July 24, 2019, and conspiracy to commit the murder of Marco Magana on Aug. 1, 2019. Apan was also arrested for other related charges.Kevin Herrera, 26, of National City, was arrested on Nov. 17, 2020, for the murder of Joaquin Ruiz on July 12, 2019, and other related charges.Ismael Betancourt, 20, of National City, was arrested on Nov. 19, 2020, for the murder of Lowry Rivers on April 8, 2018. Jorge Sanchez, 18, of San Diego, had previously been arrested for the murder of Emily Cortez on July 15, 2020. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has updated its use of force policy to include a ban on the carotid restraint technique among other new policies.MTS said the agency is training officers and has started testing the policies, which include:Banning carotid restraints and choke holds, prohibiting the use of knee pressure on the neck, throat or headA requirement that the use of force to be proportional to the seriousness of the offenseRequiring officers to intervene if witnessing excessive force by another employeeA requirement to use de-escalation tactics when feasible (de-escalation training was previously provided, but now written into policy)Requiring a warning prior to the use of forceMTS will also begin its fare diversion pilot program on Sept. 1 to help riders caught without fare avoid court fees or a citation.RELATED: San Diego MTS steps up efforts to keep riders, workers safeThe new policies come after several local agencies moved to end the use of the carotid restraint technique and reform their own use of force policies."These reforms to the use of force policy are another step in our effort to comprehensively restructure our approach to transit safety. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Roughly 24 hours after stepping foot on Hawaiian soil, San Diego mother Christina Adele said that she and her family flew back home from vacation once Hawaiian state health officials had them quarantine after not accepting their negative test results.“I was in tears,” she told ABC10 News. She said that before the trip she checked Hawaii's entry checklist which requires a negative nucleic acid amplification test performed by a trusted partner, including CVS Pharmacy. She said that she and her family went to a CVS in Poway to get tested, which is where she said that she clarified with CVS staff that their testing would be adequate. “I said, ‘We're going to Hawaii. We need to make sure this is not an antigen or antibody test,’ and they assured me it wasn't,” she added.The family’s excitement quickly faded after their plane touched down in Hawaii. Adele said that Hawaiian health officials did not accept their tests and said that her family was instructed to quarantine for 14 days in their room at their resort.“[The resort staff said] if we see you out at all we're going to call the Hawaiian Police Department and you will go to jail,” she told ABC10 News. “I didn't pack much of anything for my son. I had some diapers and some things but I was thinking I was going to buy all that stuff in Hawaii.”She said her family couldn’t handle the quarantine so they flew back home the next day.“[I got] an email saying that [Hawaiian health officials] reread our COVID tests and they actually are valid and we could be immediately released from quarantine," she said a day after returning home.Part of the email reads: "Aloha, your COVID test has been read and you have been released from quarantine."“The whole ridiculous part is we had the negative COVID tests from the trusted partner,” she added.State health officials in Hawaii emailed the following to ABC10 News: 1901
