More on this as it develops.ORIGINAL STORY: Investigators following leads in the disappearance of a 13-year-old North Carolina girl have found a body that is awaiting positive identification, the FBI said.Hania Noelia Aguilar was abducted outside her home in Lumberton on the morning of November 5, 2018, authorities said.The body was found Tuesday afternoon in Robeson County, the FBI said in a statement, just a few miles from Hania's home.Investigators notified the missing teen's family "out of an abundance of caution," but no confirmation has been made of the body's identity, the FBI said."Please continue to pray for Hania, her family, and each other as the investigation continues to find out who kidnapped Hania and hold them responsible," the FBI said.Police say someone drove away with Hania in a relative's SUV that was parked in the driveway Monday morning before school, prompting authorities to issue an Amber Alert for her.A witness saw a man dressed in black and wearing a yellow bandana force Hania into the vehicle. Authorities said they have no reason to think Hania knew her abductor and her family is cooperating with the investigation.The stolen SUV was found abandoned less than 10 miles from Hania's home at the Rosewood Mobile Home Park, authorities said.Lumberton police and the FBI asked residents with video surveillance systems to save video recordings, even if they don't see the vehicle in the footage, and contact them. Beginning in 2024, there will be new standards for nominees of the coveted Best Picture Academy Award. The changes are meant to encourage equitable representation and “better reflect the diversity of the movie-going audience,” according to the Academy.In order for a film to qualify to be a Best Picture nominee, they must meet two of four new representation and inclusion standards. It’s part of Academy Aperture 2025, an initiative by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that sets specific inclusion goals for the organization and the films it recognizes.Movies wishing to be considered for Best Picture in 2022 and 2023 will need to submit a form attesting to their inclusion and representation practices, however meeting the specific Academy standards will not be required until the 96th Oscars in 2024.The standards include having at least 30 percent of all actors on-screen from at least two underrepresented groups, having a storyline or theme that centers on underrepresented group(s); as well as efforts behind the camera like having representation from underrepresented groups in creative leadership and department head positions, overall crew composition, and paid internship and apprenticeship opportunities for underrepresented groups.“The aperture must widen to reflect our diverse global population in both the creation of motion pictures and in the audiences who connect with them,” said Academy President David Rubin and Academy CEO Dawn Hudson. “We believe these inclusion standards will be a catalyst for long-lasting, essential change in our industry.”Another change fans will notice in 2021, the Best Picture category will be limited to ten nominees, rather than a fluctuating number year-to-year.Here is the full list of standards from the Academy. BOSTON (AP) — A federal appeals court has upheld a district court decision clearing Harvard University of intentional discrimination against Asian American applicants. Two judges on the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston rejected claims from an anti-affirmative action group that accuses the Ivy League university of imposing a "racial penalty" on Asian Americans. The decision delivers a blow to the group, Students for Fair Admissions, and moves the case a step closer to a possible review by the U.S. Supreme Court. The group's 2014 lawsuit alleges that Harvard's admissions officers use a subjective "personal rating" to discriminate against Asian Americans who apply to the school. Harvard denies any discrimination.According to the Associated Press, the judges concluded that Harvard does not place outsized emphasis on race. 848
Bank of America announced on Tuesday that they plan to stop lending money to companies that make assault-style guns used for non-military purposes.During an interview on Bloomberg television, Bank of America Vice Chairman Anne Finucane said, “It’s not our intent to underwrite or finance military-style firearms on a go-forth basis.”According to Finucane, the firm has had “intense conversations over the last few months” with those kinds of gun manufacturers to let them know "it's our intention not to finance these military-style firearms for civilian use."According to CNBC, the bank is a lender to Vista Outdoor, Remington and Sturm Ruger.The move comes as part of a national movement addressing gun control that was put into motion after a gunman opened fire on a Florida high school killing 17 people.
