Cadillac's Super Cruise, the only hands-free semi-autonomous driving feature on the highways, is now on local roads. 10News reporter Michael Chen went to North County Cadillac and took a long for a test drive in the CT6 sedan on I-15.Once on the highway, the feature was activated with the push of a button on the steering wheel. The feature allows the driver to go feet- and hands-free as long as you stay in one lane. "If someone slows down in front of me, it will slow down our speed," said Drew Doran.While other driver-assistance systems use cameras to center a car, Doran says General Motors has extensive laser mapping of US highways that leads to better accuracy."It actually knows what is ahead of the vehicle," said Doran. On the hour-long drive, we tracked every curve and every time, it stayed in the center of the lane. The driver still expected to be on standby. A camera on the steering wheel watches for distractions. If the driver is doing something like reading and blocking that camera, it will warn the driver.When we blocked the camera, a green light flashed - the first of several alerts - before Super Cruise disengaged. Doran says he recently went on a trip to Los Angeles with his wife. He says he used Super Cruise for about 80% of a drive that left him feeling relaxed. "Not the usual back pain. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — A firefighter was injured Wednesday when a roof collapsed on him while battling a blaze at a North County strip mall.Crews responded to the strip mall at 945 W. Valley Parkway just before 3:20 p.m., according to Escondido Fire Department. One engine arrived to the end unit of the mall fully engulfed in flames and extending into a neighboring business, EFD said.It's not clear how the fire started. The fire appears to have originated in a shoe repair and garment cleaner business, according to Google Maps images. The business sits next door to a gun and ammo business.One firefighter was injured in the blaze when part of a roof collapsed, according to EFD. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center for treatment. EFD didn't reveal the extent of the firefighter's injuries.EFD added that one civilian had minor smoke inhalation and refused treatment at the scene. 899
Fans of Nutella are going absolutely nuts after the brand changed its recipe.Nutella said in a post on its German Facebook page on Tuesday that it was "fine tuning" its recipe. It said the addition of more powdered milk increased the spread's sugar content.The brand's U.S. Twitter page also confirmed the recipe had changed. Facebook is launching a widespread effort to boost U.S. voter turnout and provide authoritative information about voting — just as it doubles down on its policy allowing politicians like President Donald Trump to post false information on the same subject.The social media giant is launching a “Voting Information Center” on Facebook and Instagram that will include details on registering to vote, polling places and voting by mail.
