According to officials with the Workforce Partnership, walk-ins won’t be accepted, however some services will be available by appointment only.“Our resources have always been available online, and actually the number one way people file for unemployment in or out of a public health emergency is online,” said Andrew Picard, chief program Officer at the San Diego Workforce Partnership.Picard said if people don't have a computer or internet access, don't worry, the phone still works. Career agents and advisors with the organization can walk you through a job search or the unemployment process.“We have teams of career agents and advisors standing by over the phone and with online tools to do virtual meetings,” Picard said. “A great deal of resources and programs that are still in operation and still available to the community.”Unemployment assistance isn’t just for people who recently lost their job.According to the Employment Development Department, “You are encouraged to apply for Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits if you are unemployed, which includes reasons such as, your hours are reduced due to the quarantine, you were separated from your employer during the quarantine, you are subject to a quarantine required by a medical professional or state or local health officer.”Last week Governor Gavin Newsom sped up the time it takes to get financial assistance. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- For students in the 3D printing club at Westview High in Poway whose goal was never to hit the 'print' button, they've come a long way."It feels really amazing to know the 3D printing club is helping those who are in need."Victor Ku is president for Westview High's 3D printing club that started up this past year.When the club started, their mission was purely educational. They wanted to create a curriculum and teach people the basics of 3D printing because they didn't have the money to actually print anything."It can be very expensive and super confusing at first which is why we believe all these limitations shouldn’t restrict one from getting the opportunity to learn its such an amazing tool."Then when March came around, Victor said "we were back to square one. We didn’t really know what to do and we realized we need to quickly pivot towards the communities needs and in this case it was face shields or personal protective equipment."That's when the team of young and aspiring engineers got to work and finally hit 'print'."We took a small break and waited for all the design and the actual professional engineers to perfect the design before we started mass producing these face shields," Victor said.They've donated about 400 face shields to five different organizations, and are some of the youngest people to make a difference."We’ve distributed them to hospitals, hair salons and post offices to name a few. That little bit could definitely help save any lives."With things easing up, Victor said they want to widen their distribution list. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Family and friends of Sabrina Rosario gathered Saturday night for a memorial service to honor her and her four boys. Rosario and her boys were killed by her estranged husband, the children's father, last month. The boys: Enzi, 3, Zuriel, 5, Ezekiel, 9 and Zeth, 11. Rosario was 29-years-old. Collins says her daughter was brave and beautiful and she finds comfort in knowing she's in a better place. Roughly 400 people filled the church in Paradise Hills for the memorial. Pictures and flowers filled the front of the room. The service included prayer, singing and stories of Rosario and the boys. Rosario had been granted a restraining order from her estranged husband just hours before she was killed, but that order was never served. 947

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Heavy rains and wind across San Diego County hit one Coronado business particularly hard.The Coronado Tree Farm had only been open for about a week before Thursday's Grinch of a storm rolled through the area, heavily damaging the small farm at the ferry landing. The farm posted on Facebook that it would have to close for the season, before it could fully deliver some Christmas joy."Sad to say that the Tree Farm has to be closed down," the farm wrote. "The rain destroyed all our inventory and commercial props, generator, hay, games, prizes, tables, fencing, tents etc... We would have to start all over again in order to run it."Steve Albert, co-owner of the Coronado Flower Lady, told 10News they tried to curtail any damages but the weather simply took hold."I started trying to get everything I could under the big tent, and while I was doing that, one would break lose, and then another one," Albert said. "The whole thing is just kind of anchored together. The whole thing just went."Some of the trees and decorations are in good condition and will be offered up to anyone. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For several months, San Diegans were invited to weigh in on the Port Master Plan proposal. It's the Port of San Diego's first comprehensive update in nearly 40 years, aiming to reflect changes in the needs and priorities of the region. The Port manages 34 miles of San Diego Bay and Waterfront along Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, National City, and San Diego. When the Port published the proposed master plan in April, several communities voiced major concerns; two of the most vocal being Coronado and Point Loma residents. "We have this little slice of history, and I think it's our obligation to preserve, so it's enjoyed generations to come," said Cameron Lilley, a multi-generational Point Loma native.For months, Lilley has been garnering community support in opposition to some of the proposals impacting Shelter Island. "We started digging into it and quickly realized that there were so many points that really didn't consider the locals in the restructure of our community," said Lilley. Some of their primary concerns:Up to 1600 new hotel rooms70,000 square feet of retail and restaurant spaceRemoving private and historic docksThe Port received nearly 3,000 comment letters in response to its initial proposal.
