There are so many options when a person goes into a supplement store, from vitamins to minerals and protein powders and more. The latest one to grow in popularity? Collagen. At Supplement Giant, owner Adam Watts says collagen powder is a popular product.“Collagen is actually the most abundant amount of protein in our body,” Watts said.Collagen represents 30 percent of a human body’s protein content.“It’s found in animal bones ligaments and tendons again not traditionally part of our diet anymore,” he said. Most brands sell collagen as a great supplement to take to improve a person’s hair, skin, fingernails, and bone and joint health.“If you have a deficiency of collagen in your skin it can decrease you skin health which can cause stretch marks, dark spots, infections,” Watts said.He suggests people age 30 and older take a collagen supplement.“After the age of 30, collagen decreases by 1 percent, so by the time you're 50, you've lost 20 percent of your collagen,” he said. "If you have injuries, collagen is going to help and repair tissue." Registered Dietician Jessica Crandall Snyder said she recommends food as medicine, not supplements."Being active on a daily basis you are actually helping to re-synthesize your collagen," she said, "So supplemental sources from protein powders may not be the way for you to get adequate nutrition."While Adam Watts sells collagen powder at whole sale, other stores start the product at per container. But eggs, wild salmon, tomatoes, pumpkin and chia seeds are affordable foods that aid in collagen production. The experts say collagen powder works, but make sure it’s not your main source of protein. 1668
The show must go on. Most AMC Theatres are remaining open despite calls for the public to practice in social distancing and avoid crowded venues. But with the recent advent of reserved seating, the large theater chain is able to force social distancing within its cinemas. AMC announced that starting Saturday, all cinemas nationwide will be capped at 50% capacity. The chain also said that in auditoriums with more than 500 seats, seating will be capped at 250. In states with more restrictive bans on large gatherings, AMC said it would abide by state law. For instance, in Ohio, no auditorium can hold more than 100 people at a given time. Many other cities and states have implemented similar bans. AMC Theatres' CEO said that it wants to offer the public a "clean, healthy, entertaining environment.""The health and safety of our guests and theater teams are of the utmost importance to AMC," CEO Adam Aron said. "Therefore, AMC is proactively taking action to cut in half the number of tickets that we will make available at all our U.S. theaters. With this action, we are facilitating the ‘social distance’ between guests who still want to see movies on a big screen.” 1187
The Trump administration identified 471 parents who were removed from the United States without their children and "without being given the opportunity to elect or waive reunification," according to the latest court filing in an ongoing lawsuit,The revelation came in a filing in the family separation lawsuit Ms. L et al. vs. Immigration and Customs Enforcement et al. The administration has previously acknowledged that parents were removed without their children, but the latest report provides an updated count -- which had been requested by the American Civil Liberties Union to serve as a baseline to better track reunifications. The ACLU filed the case against the Trump administration last year on behalf of a Congolese woman, referred to as "Ms. L," who was seeking asylum in the US and was separated from her 7-year-old daughter. The case was later expanded to a class-action lawsuit.District Judge Dana Sabraw issued a preliminary injunction last June blocking most family separations at the US-Mexico border and ordering that those already separated be reunited.Wednesday's court filing notes that since the preliminary injunction was issued, the government has worked with a steering committee regarding the status of deported parents who have children remaining in federal care. The ACLU helped lead the committee, which reached out to all the parents who had been deported. The filing also includes the latest numbers on reunifications. As of Monday, 2,741 of 2,816 children have been discharged from government care, up six since the Feb. 20 status report. Four children are "proceeding towards reunification or other appropriate discharge," according to the filing. 1691
Today I filed HB 273, which deletes the requirement that a person obtain a permission slip from government before concealing a weapon for their self defense—also known as “Constitutional Carry.” Our Second Amendment right should not be determined by a government bureaucracy. 288
