TUCSON, Ariz. — Lute Olson, a legendary University of Arizona basketball coach who led to the Wildcats to the winningest streak in their history, has died at the age of 85, his family says.Lute Olson was the soul of Tucson. Revered by the community, regarded as one of college basketball's greatest coaches of all-time, Olson brought a sense of pride to Arizona’s basketball program, and to southern Arizona.He led the Wildcats to four final four appearances including a national championship, and an amazing 23 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.Yet the legendary Arizona wildcat basketball coach didn't arrive in Tucson until he was close to fifty years old.Olson was born in North Dakota and began his career coaching high school teams, first in Minnesota, then in California.Olson taught his teams to want more - to reach for a dream - and drive for perfection. He compiled a 24-2 record in his only season at Long Beach State.That was followed by the University of Iowa, where he led the Hawkeyes to the 1980 Final Four.Three years later, Olson surprised the college basketball world, leaving the Big Ten power for an Arizona Wildcat program coming off a 4-24 season.Olson made a bold statement, advising fans in April of 1983 that they should get their tickets now.Just two years later, Arizona was a winner.Olson turned down other college opportunities, saying that Tucson was his home. He would also decline offers from the NBA.“I love coaching college guys because you can just see them grow from kids to young men before they move on,” he said in a 2016 interview.His first Wildcat Final four team came in 1988. UNIVERSITY CITY (KGTV) - A man led police on a short vehicle pursuit, before crashing into a canyon and running away. The pursuit started just before 9 p.m. Sunday night on Genesee Avenue and Governor Drive. The man was parked in a vehicle blocking a driveway to a business, according to San Diego Police. He was running up and down the street and took off in a vehicle when police arrived. Police pursued him for about 10 minutes, before he crashed into a canyon near the end of Governor Drive and Travers Way. The man immediately got out and ran into the canyon. According to police, the driver is a Hispanic male in his late 20s, 5'8", with a shaved head, short sleeved shirt and hoodie, and gray shorts. 730

TULSA -- More details are coming out about the woman who police in Oklahoma say brutally stabbed her 11-year-old daughter Monday night. Friends and family of Taheerah Ahmad said they are in complete shock that the mother could do something like this.Those close to Ahmad painted two different pictures of her. One picture is of a caring mother who loves her children in the public eye, and the other is an abusive, unstable mother inside of her home.“Whenever she would talk about her kids, everything was always positive. She never said anything crazy,” said a former coworker of Ahmad.The coworker, who didn’t want to go on camera with Scripps station KJRH in Tulsa, said she always seemed normal enough.“She would go out with us," the former coworker said. "She would have drinks with us. She just seems like a very nice person.”But as her coworkers got close to her, they said they noticed something was off and would start noticing little things about Ahmad. “I know she went by at least four different names,” a coworker said.Her coworker said whenever a shooting took the life of one of Ahmad's friends last year, Ahmad changed and became sad.Her coworker said she brought up her children all the time and always talked about them in positive ways.But neighbors said that’s just what Ahmad was telling her friends.RELATED: Suspect in Amber Alert, stabbing of daughter seen smiling after arrestMultiple neighbors, who also didn’t want to go on camera, said they often heard screaming from inside the home and said there was something eerie about the house.One neighbor even said several nights in the past week, he would see Ahmad performing what appeared to be rituals late at night around a fire.“I really don’t know if there’s any reasoning behind this, but I just hope whatever is wrong gets fixed,” the neighbor said. The mother is in jail on one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two counts of child neglect and one count of arson.The 11-year-old’s condition is still critical.  2103

Two of Mississippi's top elected Republicans proposed Wednesday that the Confederate battle emblem be replaced on the state flag with the words “In God We Trust," seeking a path toward unity in their state amid the backdrop of national protests over racial injustice.Mississippi has the only state flag that includes the Confederate battle emblem — a red field topped by a blue X with 13 white stars. White supremacists in the Legislature chose the design in 1894 as backlash for the political power African Americans gained during Reconstruction after the Civil War.Mississippi voters chose to keep the flag in a 2001 statewide election, but the design has remained contentious. Elsewhere in the country, debate has sharpened as Confederate monuments and statues recalling past slavery have been toppled by protesters or deliberately removed by authorities amid a groundswell against racial inequities.Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann and Attorney General Lynn Fitch issued separate statements Wednesday about the flag. Hosemann said a new flag would help future generations.“In my mind, our flag should bear the Seal of the Great State of Mississippi and state ‘In God We Trust,’” Hosemann said. “ I am open to bringing all citizens together to determine a banner for our future.”Fitch said Wednesday that adding “In God We Trust” to the state flag would “reflect the love, compassion and conviction of our people” and would be "the perfect way to demonstrate who we are to all.”Separately, Mississippi Republican Gov.
