SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police believe a University of San Diego professor accused of making threats against fellow professors may have a gun in his possession.Last week, 10News reported on the ordeal unfolding inside USD's Theology and Religious Studies Department: Fliers circulating with three pictures of professors, labeling them "fascists" and urging boycotts of their classes. Versions of the flier with gun cross-hairs were slipped under those professors' doors. 10News has learned two of those professors have filed for restraining orders against fellow professor Louis Komjathy, now suspended by the school.RELATED: Professor accused of threats made against University of San Diego professorsSan Diego Police filed for their own gun violence restraining order to take away any weapons, a request granted by a judge citing "credible information" Komjathy owns one or more firearms, ammunition or magazines. In the restraining order petition, officers say when they asked him about owning a gun, he said, "I do not. Search my apartment and my car if you want."Meanwhile, there are new details about Komjathy's motive for the fliers. Komjathy had been passed over for a promotion, and in the police interview, he reportedly said, "It was supposed to be symbolic representation of having a target on their backs and being singled out. I did not mean to infer violence on anyone ..."The possibility of an actual gun is once again sparking lingering questions raised at a recent student protest, concerns the school didn't notify students in time. The university releasing an email about the fliers about a week after they were first discovered.A spokesperson with the school reissued the following statement: "Our commitment to protecting employee privacy restricts our ability to share further details of an incident that clearly violates university policy and is antithetical to our mission and values. With the Golden State Warriors facing elimination tonight in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, star forward Kevin Durant plans on playing when the ball is tipped shortly after 9 p.m. ET, ESPN reported. Posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram claim without evidence that prominent Democrats have deep ties to Dominion Voting Systems, the company that supplies election equipment to Michigan and at least 30 states nationwide. Claims that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, and the Clinton Foundation have interest or influence in Dominion are all unsubstantiated. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Planning commission Thursday voted to recommend a zoning change for a massive office complex along State route 56 in Torrey Highlands.The site in question is an 11-acre site just south of SR-56 near Camino Del Sur, surrounded on three sides by the Del Mar Mesa Preserve. Cisterra Development plans to build a 450,000-square-foot office complex, including a 7-story parking structure."Right now, San Diego is on the verge of a shortage of employment-suitable land for the kinds of innovation economy jobs that ... are coming to San Diego now. We need large lots of space for companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft ... We try to bring homes near jobs, but we also need to bring jobs near homes. There are thousands of homes in the area," said David Dick of Cisterra Development.According to Cisterra, the project will lead to more than 1,900 jobs, described as "permanent and high-wage."Darshana Patel, a member of the Rancho Penasquitos Planning Board, is skeptical. She points to a nearby, even-larger office complex approved in 2013."It's approved, graded, and no one's interested. Also, these jobs are highly specialized. It's no given that our neighbors will fill these positions," said Patel.What Patel is sure of are the other impacts of the project, from more traffic in a highly congested area, to environmental impacts. One by one, dozens sounded their concern at a Planning Commission meeting, including members of planning, environmental and recreational groups.
