(KGTV) - All eyes were on Del Mar's bluffs near the train tracks during Wednesday's storm.Watching the cliffs near Seagrove Park, 10News spotted dirt trickling down the cliffs each time a a train passed by, raising concern after a large bluff collapse Friday.Another area was deemed precarious by the North County Transit District (NCTD) less than a block away from last weekend's collapse.Transit workers told 10News everything was going to plan Wednesday, referencing sand bags keeping debris out of storm drains, funneling water away from the fragile sandstone cliffs.RELATED: Travel nightmare for train passengers after Del Mar bluff collapseAn NCTD official said the agency has personnel monitoring the bluffs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until further notice."At this time, the tracks are safe and trains are permitted to travel through the area at restricted speeds," said an NCTD spokesperson.SANDAG and North County Transit District completed a million project last fall to shore up the bluffs. 1031

DEL MAR (KGTV) - The Annual Pacific Classic Party celebrated heroes in the horse community who risked their lives to rescue thoroughbreds during the Lilac Fire."I want everybody who was at San Luis Ray that day to understand they were all heroes," Horse Trainer and Owner Kimberly Marrs said. She's owned horses as long as she can remember, and loves them with all her heart.Friday night, a jazz-infused, Hor d'oeuvres laden party at L'Auberge, the honorees transported attendees to smoke and flame-filled, frantic memories."His pen was on fire because he was in sawdust, literally drug him out of the pen," Marrs said, adding that on that day she lept inside and dragged the horse out, leading him and others along the way to the infield with another worker. They were almost to the end of the tunnel when, "next thing we're facing is a 50-head herd of horses, coming straight at us. So all we could do is basically plaster ourselves against the wall and close our eyes and pray we didn't get hit because if we got hit, we would've been knocked down and trampled to death."She made it unscathed and headed back for her barn where she knew another horse was waiting. When she returned, she faced devastation."I'm still looking for a hose to try and put him out, like I can save him. I tried to get in my barn, but it was so hot, I was stepping over flames," she said. Marrs knew he was already dead. She described it as a horrible, guilt-filled moment. For months, she the memoriy stayed with her.Friday night, that memory was brought into the light, by the horse community. They honored hers and so many others' stories of sacrifice.Noting Martine Bellocq in particular. Bellocq suffered burns to more than 60 percent of her body trying to rescue horses from the Lilac Fire. Saturday, after the third race, Bellocq will be honored for her role in rescuing the horses. 1961

Their home sits on the corner of Lake Shore Drive and Moross Road. With thousands of LED lights and tons of spooky decorations, it has become an attraction!“It means more to people this year than in the past because it is a sign of normalcy,” Mark said.He puts up the lights and decorations himself. He’s in real estate and construction and rents equipment. Mark says it takes 80 hours to decorate about ,000 worth of props and lights.Every year, the Vane Sile couple would dress up and pass out full-size candy bars to 1,400 trick-or-treaters. But because of the pandemic, they are keeping safe and won’t be hosting trick-or-treaters.This year, people are welcome to walk up the driveway and check out all the spooky sights at a safe distance.“People are truly enthusiastic about it,” Mark said.It is not just Halloween, they go big on Independence Day and Christmas.Mark has so many decorations, he built his own storage room. The homeowner is so festive, he was featured in a Valero Energy commercial for putting up half a million lightsMark says he’s happy when all of his efforts bring smiles and lasting memories for little ones.“When you have Halloween decorations, you have Christmas decorations, it’s for everybody to enjoy," he said. "Take a step back, relax. Detroit police are investigating after a teen was shot in the back of the head while live on Instagram.According to police, it happened in a home in the 17600 block of San Juan on the city's west side.Police say just before midnight, two 18-year-old men were live on Instagram with guns and money. Per the suspect, he accidentally put his finger on the trigger and discharged the rifle, striking the other 18-year-old in the back of the head in the living room.Police and medics arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead.The other 18-year-old was taken into custody.  583
