SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A rare sight in Belmont Park - giant stuffed animals riding a historic roller coaster. According to the amusement park, the stuffed animals are being used the test the Giant Dipper. A spokesperson with the park says people passing through enjoyed catching a glimpse of the tests.The dipper has to be tested daily, but amid the coronavirus, the park had to get creative and decided to load the train up with massive stuffed animals. The tests come ahead of the coasters 95th birthday this July 4. The Giant Dipper was built by the Prior and Church Company in 1925 amid the Golden Age of wooden roller coasters, the park says. In 1976, the entire park closed due to financial difficulties. After the park closed, a group of San Diegans formed a Save the Coaster Committee and obtained a state historic preservation grant to help start the restoration, the park says. Later, in 1990, the San Diego Coaster Company was formed, signing a lease with the City of San Diego to restore the coaster. At last, it was restored at a cost of million, according to the park. According to the poll, Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar is leading the race, followed by Republican Carl DeMaio and Republican Darrell Issa. Meanwhile, the poll is also an indication of how district residents feel about a number of issues, including impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. To get the data, SurveyUSA interviewed 770 voting-age individuals in California’s 50th Congressional District between September 27 and October 2. Of the voting-age individuals surveyed, 671 are registered to vote in the state. 592 of those registered voters were likely to vote in the 2020 California Primary, SurveyUSA says. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A mountain lion that scratched a young boy at the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve in Poway last week was captured and killed, state Fish and Wildlife officials told the San Diego Union-Tribune.On June 12, park officials said a 4-year-old boy suffered scratches to his back and thigh after an encounter with the animal on the park grounds.The boy, who was on a hike with his family at the time of the incident, is expected to make a full recovery.RELATED: 4-year-old attacked by mountain lion according to Fish and WildlifeThe park was temporarily closed after the attack.The U-T, citing a Fish and Wildlife official, reported that the mountain lion in the incident was found and killed several hours after the boy was attacked.The official told the newspaper that DNA tests confirmed the animal -- a 2-year-old female weighing 70 pounds -- was the one responsible for scratching the boy. 911

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A partnership with the United Way and the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council pulled off a donation drive-through at SDCCU Stadium Tuesday morning that served 500 families in need.Cars holding vouchers from the various unions represented by the council lined up and proceeded through the assembly line, loading up with food and toys donated by their fellow workers.Every year, thousands of union workers make a monthly donation from their paychecks to assist their fellow working families and community members in need. This year's recipients included fire victims and other families identified by several non-profit partners, according to representatives with the Labor Council."You've got electricians and teachers out here helping school bus drivers and janitors and security guards, those who have fallen on hard times and need a little extra help," says Keith Maddox with the Labor Council.Holding two events, one in San Diego and the other in Imperial County, 650 families total were served by the annual donation drive.Feeding San Diego helps procure the food for the drive, according to Unions United/United Way of San Diego County President and CEO Nancy Sasaki. 1209
