(KGTV) -- Tuesday, SpaceX launchged several satellites into orbit that will replace a satellite network and monitor climate change. The Iridium-6/GRACE-FO satellites were launched just before 1 p.m. from Vandenberg Air Force Base. For this particular mission, SpaceX launched five Iridium NEXT satellites as part of the company's campaign to replace the world's largest commercial satellite network. A total of eight Iridium NEXT launches are planned with the company that will send into orbit 75 new satellites. Also on board the Falcon 9 rocket will be satellites that will monitor the movement of earth's mass for NASA and the German Research Centre for Geosciences.Watch the launch in the player below:  775

A 20-year-old man with Down syndrome was carrying a toy gun when he was shot dead by Swedish police in Stockholm on Thursday, according to CNN affiliate Expressen.Eric Torell was diagnosed with both autism and Down syndrome and could not verbally communicate, his mother told Expressen.Torell's family reported him missing after he ran away from home, something he had been known to do before. He had a plastic toy gun with him, which "looked a little like a submachine gun" and was given to him as a gift, said his mother, Katarina S?derberg.Early Thursday morning, the police received reports of a person with a gun in the Vasastan district. After arriving on the scene, they shouted at Torell to "lay down his weapon and lie on the ground," an eyewitness told Expressen.Police officers are then believed to have fired at Torell, according to Expressen. Torell was taken to the hospital, but could not be saved.When S?derberg was first notified of her son's death, she said: "There's got to be a mix-up."She was "totally, totally devastated," she told reporters in her home, as she showed them photos of Torell. "I couldn't understand that it was true, I still can't believe that it is true."She and Eric's older sister, Elsa, were nearly paralyzed by the news, S?derberg said. Why, she asked, did the police officers have to shoot? (KGTV) — Los Angeles Police are investigating the death of a six-month-old fetus found in the bathroom of a Sherman Oaks grocery store.Police received the call at about 3 p.m. about an infant's body at a Ralphs grocery store in the 4400 block of Burbank Boulevard, according to ABC-affiliate Los Angeles station KABC.The fetus was discovered in a toilet by a witnessed who then called police, LAPD Sgt. Hector Guzman said during a press conference. Fire personnel arrived and determined it had died.Guzman said they have identified a woman they believed to be the mother and have interviewed her to figure out what happened, according to KABC.Ralphs issued a statement to KABC, saying the bathrooms are behind the scenes and don't impact the safety of customers, employees, and the public.By Wednesday evening, police determined no crime had been committed and no arrests were made, KABC reported. (KGTV) - TripAdvisor confirmed this month its willingness to publish travel reviews which include reports of crimes such as rape, robbery, theft or assault.A news release referenced a USA Today network article regarding a woman's online report that she had been sexually assaulted at the Iberostar Paraiso hotel near Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The article indicated the woman's review was removed from the TripAdvisor website.TripAdvisor said the woman's forum post was removed seven years ago when the company had a policy requiring content to use family-friendly language. Site officials said the policy changed to allow more descriptive reviews, including crime.“We believe any first-hand experience should be posted to our site as a means to communicate to other consumers looking for information on where they should travel,” TripAdvisor posted on its site.TripAdvisor said it is creating a badge notification to apply to businesses to alert consumers of health and safety or discrimination issues at that business reported on within the media or other credible sources of information.  1123

(KGTV) — Recently released video shows a Florida deputy rushing to save a toddler left in a hot car overnight on Father's Day.Seminole County Sheriff's deputy Bill Dunn responded to a call for a stolen vehicle with a child possibly inside on June 17, 2018, in Sanford, Fla.Dunn arrived to find a 2005 Toyota Corolla with its windows rolled up. Inside was a young girl, visibly in and out of consciousness. She had been inside the car for roughly 12 hours, according to the Miami Herald.RELATED: Infant dies?after being left in hot car in Florida"Sadly I didn't think she was alive when I got to her," Dunn told Seminole County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).
