(KGTV) — The coroner's office has identified a teenager killed after a student pulled out a handgun and fired at classmates at a Southern California high school Thursday.Gracie Anne Muehlberger, 15, died from her injuries in the shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita. One other student, a 14-year-old boy, also died at Henry Mayo Hospital in Valencia, but his identity has not been released.Three other students, 14-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old girl, were injured in the shooting, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva. Hospital officials say they have already released the 14-year-old boy, and the two girls were doing well and may be released in one or two days.RELATED:Police officials continue investigation into deadly shooting at California high schoolTrauma Surgeons call for urgent intervention after school shootingPHOTOS: Deadly shooting at Santa Clarita schoolInvestigators say surveillance video shows the gunman take a 45-caliber handgun out of his backpack and shoot five other students in the campus quad just after 7:30 a.m. The shooting happened in just 16 seconds, sending the campus into a lockdown and prompting some students and staff to barricade doors or flee.Villanueva said the suspect was identified by matching the video footage to him while he was in the hospital. ABC News and CNN have identified the suspect as 16-year-old Nathaniel Tennosuke Berhow.Berhow, a junior at the high school, died Friday from injuries after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Sheriff's Homicide detectives told ABC News. Detectives said his mother was present at the time of his death.Investigators were still searching for a motive Friday. One detective said the shooting occurred on Berhow's 16th birthday."We have not yet established a motive or a nexus between the subject and his victims," Sheriff's Capt. Kent Wegener said Thursday. Officials added there's no history of Berhow being bullied or belief he "was acting on behalf of any group or ideology."Investigators said they believe the students injured were targeted at random, but added "it wasn't a spur of the moment act."It's unclear how Berhow reportedly acquired the firearm used in the attack. Several firearms were found in his home after investigators served a search warrant. Authorities added that Berhow's father, who's no longer alive, had six firearms registered to his name. None of those firearms matched the ones located by investigators."It's a sad day in Saugus, it's a sad day in Los Angeles County and the nation for another tragic shooting at a school," said Villanueva on Thursday. All schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District were closed Friday and counseling was made available to staff and students. A community vigil has been planned for 7 p.m. Sunday at Santa Clarita's Central Park.City News Service contributed to this report. 2907

‘Tis the season for holiday travel! This Thanksgiving, air travel is expected to be busier than ever before.“We’re expecting an all-time high for 2018 Thanksgiving travel,” says Sharon Pinkerton, vice president of Airlines for America.U.S. airport officials say 30 million passengers are expected to travel through security checkpoints between Nov. 16 and Nov. 27. That’s up 5 percent from last year.“We want to ensure our passengers can get through our security systems quicker than they do in the past,” says David Pekoske, an administrator with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).To speed the process up, Pekoske says new technology is being put into more airports, including automated screening lanes and improved carry-on scanners. But there are things travelers should do, too, to ensure the security process moves as fast as possible. The biggest checkpoint hold-ups: packing prohibited carry-on items and forgetting things in your pockets.“My advice for PreCheck passengers is to just be patient,” Pekoske says.Even PreCheck passengers will be gambling with longer lines this holiday.“I’ve been in times where I want to get in the other line,” says traveler Dan Stagg, who has TSA PreCheck.Stagg says he’s already seeing the long lines, even for PreCheck travelers. But there is some good news. Pekoske says PreCheck changes are also underway. However, you’ll have to wait until after the holidays to see them.“We are going to put some procedures in place beginning after the first of the year, Pekoske says.“Either adding more PreCheck dedicated lanes or changing internal procedures to accommodate that.”One day for travelers to keep in mind: Nov. 25. It’s expected to be the busiest travel day of the year ahead of Christmas, so make sure to plan ahead. 1799

A 12-year-old Chinese girl who went missing from a tour group at an airport outside Washington D.C. — sparking an investigation into a possible kidnapping — was located Friday in the New York City borough of Queens, safe and in the custody of her parents, the Metro Washington Airport Authority Police said.---EARLIER STORY: A search is underway for a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, while visiting the United States from China. An Amber Alert has been issued for Ma Jingjing, who was reported missing from her tour group on Thursday morning. Authorities are looking into whether Jingjing knew the couple with whom she left.Jingjing, who is 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 90 pounds, was last seen with her tour group at about 8:15 a.m. on Thursday. She is believed to have left the airport "without force" with an unknown woman, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Chief David Huchler said late Thursday. Jingjing was in possession of her passport at the time.Airport surveillance video shows the woman helping the girl put on some clothing, and when they left together, the 12-year-old was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a black jacket.Huchler said Jingjing and the woman got into a white, late-model Infinity QX60 with unknown New York tags. The vehicle was being driven by an unknown man. The woman is described as 5 feet, 2 inches to 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds and with dark hair.Huchler said at a news conference Friday that authorities are investigating whether Jingjing and the woman know each other."The child appears to have left without any force," Huchler said. "She entered the vehicle without any force but that does not release any of our concerns."Authorities also are looking into whether Jingjing had previous contact with the man and woman. Huchler said the girl was approached by two individuals as her tour group visited the World Trade Center in New York. The extent of that contact is unclear."It appears there was some familiarity, but I don't know if it was a cordial exchange and that is something that we are trying to verify at this time," Huchler said.It also is unclear if the individuals from the airport are the same as the couple in New York, but it appears that they are "connected," Huchler said.Jingjing had been traveling in the United States since July 26 with a group that was visiting schools and sightseeing, Huchler said. The group was en route to California after visiting New York. Sometime after arriving at Reagan Airport, Jingjing became separated from the group, Huchler said. Another student notified chaperones that she was missing as the group proceeded through the airport's security check-in, he said.Virginia State Police, the FBI, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children all are involved in the search.Police are asking anyone with information to call 703-417-2400 or contact the Virginia State Police at 1-800-822-4453.The-CNN-Wire 3090
