The World Health Organization updated its guidelines on mask-wearing Tuesday, recommending that anyone over the age of 12 wear a mask indoor and outdoor and inside your home if it's ventilated poorly.The updated guidelines come as COVID-19 cases continue to sore in America. On Wednesday, 180,083 new cases were reported, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.According to the guidelines, in areas where COVID is spreading, WHO recommends that anyone over the age of 12 wear masks in shops, shared workplaces, and schools if they can't maintain a distance of more than 3-feet between others.They also recommend masks be worn when people visit your home if there's not adequate ventilation, or you can't be more than 3-feet or more from each other.The WHO said on top of wearing a mask, other precautions such as washing hands, avoiding touching your face, having adequate ventilation if indoors, testing, contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation should also be taken."Together, these measures are critical to prevent human-to-human transmission of COVID-19," WHO said.In areas of COVID-19 spread, the organization said healthcare workers should take part in "universal masking" in health care facilities, meaning they should wear an N95 respirator mask throughout their entire shift, including when caring for other patients.The advice applied to visitors, outpatients, and common areas such as cafeterias and staff rooms, but added administrative staff does not need to wear a mask if they are not exposed to patients.The organization also recommended that people who do vigorous physical activity should not wear masks, citing some associated risks, particularly asthma.For children, the WHO recommends children up to 5-years-old should not wear masks for source control. The U.S. Geological Survey is monitoring the recent eruption of the Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii and has made photos and videos of it available to the public.Small cracks began appearing on May 1 following a powerful earthquake, and Kilauea erupted May 4, sending lava onto surrounding roadways. The USGC said on Sunday night, May 6, the volcano's summit lava lake had dropped significantly, and was roughly 220 meters below the crater rim.An overnight video from the main affected neighborhood, Leilani Estates, shows lava erupting from a fissure and advancing north. The Trump administration supports reopening schools this fall, in addition to sending 125 million reusable masks to school districts they released new guidance this week for districts to reopen safely.The Schools Should Reopen Safely policy is based on three assumed facts by the administration: that prolonged school closures cause harm, children are at low risk for serious illness from Covid-19, and that educating children is a top national priority.President Trump attended a discussion Wednesday about getting children back to school where the policy was discussed with administration leaders, medical experts and educators. Some of the speakers referenced how the coronavirus pandemic has provided an experiment for virtual learning.“But the virtual learning is not like being in a classroom, and we’ve learned that, I think, very strongly — in almost all cases. People thought for a long time that would be the answer but it’s — that’s not the answer. The answer is an old-fashioned one,” President Trump said.The recommendations encourage the use of masks and social distancing, as well as educating students, teachers and staff about Covid-19 symptoms. The state of Tennessee came one step closer to allowing wine sales on Sunday after state Senators voted to approve a bill which had already passed through the House. The vote passed 17-11 on Wednesday morning. Final approval will now lie in the hands of Governor Bill Haslam who needs to sign the bill in order for it to become law.   The controversial plan will allow grocery stores to sell wine on Sunday beginning January 1, 2019.It will also permit liquor stores to immediately begin operating seven days a week. However, liquor store owners argue they are at a huge competitive disadvantage against major grocery store chains, who don't need to make any staffing changes in order to be open on Sundays.  House members approved a similar plan on Monday by a vote of 53 to 35.If approved by the Governor, wine and liquor sales would be allowed from 8 a.m. to 11p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10a.m. to 11p.m. on Sunday.Tennessee first voted to allow grocery stores to sell wine back in 2016 after years of back and forth and under constant pressure from citizens and grocery store lobbyists.   1151
