BEIJING, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping on Friday said China will continue to be open to foreign media and he looks forward to more cooperation and understanding between China and the United States.

He hoped that this exhibition would help to shed more light on the history of the Second Word War, especially on China's part, and mutual understanding between both countries should be further enhanced in order to contribute more to the world peace.

On the political and strategic level, the two countries have established Asia-Pacific consultation mechanism. In military ties, which are considered to be the most vulnerable part in bilateral relationship, the two sides also have conducted several joint military drills including the first China-U.S. disaster relief exercise in Hawaii in November 2013.

He also suggested that trade and investment facilitation be pushed, and hoped the U.S. business community would support China's reform and opening up.

"We should forge a global partnership at both international and regional levels, and embrace a new approach to state-to-state relations, one that features dialogue rather than confrontation, and seeks partnership rather than alliance," Xi noted.
