SAN MARCOS (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public Tuesday for help in identifying and locating a man suspected of starting a vegetation fire near a San Marcos place of worship last week.The blaze happened shortly before 11:55 a.m. on Dec. 10, at 1111 La Moree Road, south of state Route 78, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The fire burned roughly 100 square feet of vegetation near a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, but firefighters extinguished the flames before any buildings were damaged, officials said.Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and nearby surveillance cameras captured video and images of the suspect, described as a white man riding a mountain bike and carrying a brown backpack. SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Fast-moving floodwaters swept a vehicle away in Santa Clarita Thursday as what is being called an “atmospheric river” set up over the area, according to KABC. The incident happened along Road Runner Road, per tweets from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Santa Clarity Valley station.Due to the flooding the road was shut down. The driver was able to make it out of the vehicle safely thanks to good Samaritans.The man's car was totaled, but before he even had a chance to dry off, a neighbor bought him a replacement SUV, KABC reported.  598

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Gavin Newsom says California is turning the corner in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic. He cited a significantly lower number of confirmed new cases as California begins to clear backlogged cases caused by a technical error. Newsom says he's also encouraged by the downward trend in hospitalizations, which have fallen 21% in the past two weeks. Dr. Roger Lewis, director with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, says there’s been “a clear decline” in hospitalizations there.
