SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While families navigate this holiday season with an extra bit of care in the form of social distancing and face coverings, there are still opportunities to visit Santa Claus with the kids around the county.This year, many malls and amusement parks are keeping the tradition of visiting with Santa alive in some fashion, whether it be socially distanced in person or online.At Westfield and Simon malls throughout the county, visits will require face coverings, physical distancing, reservations, and offer hand sanitizer for visitors.But for families who aren't comfortable visiting the big man in person this year, virtual visits are available. The Otay Ranch Town Center and Chula Vista Center in the South Bay, and The Shoppes at Carlsbad in North County are offering personalized greetings and storytime with Santa. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection says officers seized more than 43,000 pounds of drugs at California ports of entry in June.Across six ports of entry along California's border with Mexico, CBP says officers stopped attempts to smuggle 34,685 lbs. of marijuana, 7,661 lbs. of methamphetamine, 635 lbs. of cocaine, 166 lbs. of heroin, and 165 lbs. of fentanyl in June. The total street value of the narcotics is more than million.The narcotics were found strapped to individuals' bodies and hidden in areas of vehicles, like gas tanks, trunks, seats, and quarter panels, according to CBP."These are impressive results and no matter what is occurring in the country, CBP officers remain vigilant," said San Diego CBP Director of Field Operations, Pete Flores. "CBP officers’ determination and instincts led to the confiscation of these drugs to keep our country safe."CBP says some of the most significant seizures included:June 4: 11,000 lbs. of marijuana in a shipment of limes seized at the Otay Mesa cargo Port of EntryJune 8: 43 lbs. of fentanyl pills and meth hidden in the quarter panels and trunk of a vehicle at the Andrade Port of EntryJune 17: Nearly 21,000 lbs. of marijuana discovered in a shipment of electronics at the Otay Mesa cargo facilityJune 24: 134 lbs. of meth found in doors, quarter panels, and gas tank of a vehicle at the Calexico West Port of EntryJune 24: 104 lbs. of cocaine found hidden in a compartment behind the backseats of a vehicle at the San Sedro Port of Entry 1529

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While the bulk of rainfall has moved out of San Diego County for the week, high winds and surf while persist through the weekend.A large west-northwest swell will bring a high surf advisory to San Diego County through Saturday until 8 p.m., with surf reaching 6 to 10 feet along the county's southern coastline. Surf will subside gradually through the end of the weekend.During that time, however, an increased risk of rip currents will create a hazard along the area's beaches.WEATHER: 10News' weekend forecastHeading into Saturday night, another storm system will bring mostly light to moderate rain Saturday night and the possibility of snow in local mountains.High winds from the west are forecasted for portions of San Diego's mountains and deserts, with a wind advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday. Wind gusts could reach 55 mph and isolated gusts could hit 65 mph.Those winds will make driving difficult in the area, especially for high profile vehicles.
