SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The FBI and police are asking for the public’s help identifying a San Diego bank robbery suspect.Police say on March 6 around 10:45 a.m., a man robbed the Chase Bank on the 1700 block of Rosecrans Street.The man passed a note to the teller demanding cash and threatening to use a weapon. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The future of SDCCU Stadium, formerly Qualcomm, will be in the hands of voters in 2018.The SoccerCity San Diego proposal has already earned its spot on the ballot and now SDSU West is hoping to do the same.If SDSU West can win the votes, it plans to put a university research center, stadium and river park on the stadium site.As for SoccerCity, planners hope to create a mixed-use stadium for MLS Soccer and college football, parks, housing, and entertainment.This week some SoccerCity supporters noticed "likes" on the SDSU West Facebook page increased significantly, from just under 500 to nearly 50,000 in a few days.Confusion turned to frustration when they noticed they too "liked" the page when in fact they hadn't."I went to investigate myself to see if that was true, and sure enough when I went on the page I had liked and followed it, without ever having liked or followed it," said Dory Freiberg, an SDSU alum.Freiberg says he's been open to learning more about the SDSU West plan but currently believes SoccerCity will be better for the city."I want to make sure that if it is defeated it's defeated legitimately because it's not the best plan for the city and not any kind of underhandedness," said Freiberg.James Stroud, a longtime San Diego resident, says he too noticed he "liked" the page when in fact he never clicked the 'like' button."It's something that makes them appear more popular than they are, gives them an aura of importance or trustworthiness when it wasn't deserved," Stroud believes.Stroud believes that's problematic as SDSU West tries to garner signatures to get on the November ballot.A quick search of Facebook community forums shows it's not a new issue. When finished, the museum plans to have a 25,000-square-feet of space for exhibits, more than 6,000-square-feet of classroom space for hands-on enrichment, and a 4K video theater and presentation space.The museum says it will also host a year-round schedule of programs and exhibits, like Comic-Con panels, creator meet-and-greets, experiential cinema, watch parties, eSports, cosplay shows, and more.A cafe featuring items themed off of current exhibits and programs is also planned. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Students in the San Diego Unified School District have a handful of programs designed to keep them active and help ward off childhood obesity.In 2016, the district began it's Healthy Initiative. So far, they've created wellness committees in every school. They also put their IMPACT Program into 20% of the campuses, with plans to expand in the next few years."IMPACT stands for Increased Movement in Physical Activity during Class Time," explains SDUSD's Kate McDevitt. It gets the students 30 extra minutes each week outside, learning easy-to-replicate activities that they can take home."They still have time with their PE teacher, but now classroom teachers can engage their students in station based physical activity," says McDevitt. She says it helps with their focus throughout the day."You can see them light up and really engage in the classroom activities and the earning they’re doing when they have time to move," she says.In addition to the IMPACT program, many schools have local gardens where kids learn about fresh fruits and vegetables. Cafeterias have replaced traditional, high calorie options with foods that are healthier. And some schools have changed the way they do celebrations."We have healthy celebrations," says Ocean Beach Elementary Principal Marco Drapeau. "We still celebrate birthdays and holidays. We still make a big deal out of them. But we don’t hand out the sugary treats."The need for a more health-based approach to school comes at a time when kids' risk of obesity is increasing. According to the CDC, one in five kids in the US is obese. And one in three kids born since 2000 will develop Type 2 Diabetes over the course of their lives.Drapeau says schools are on the front lines in the fight."We’re at a stage right now where we’re competing with this," Drapeau says, holding his hands as if he's holding a phone and watching tv. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Ten people were arrested in a suspected smuggling incident after border officials stopped a boat off the coast of Coronado this week.U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine agents say a boat was spotted just west of Coronado at about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Agents said the vessel was traveling from Mexican waters into U.S. territory.A crew was sent out to stop the suspected smuggling boat and 10 people were found aboard. The boat had been traveling without lights on and was spray painted black, according to agents.The individuals on the boat, all male Mexican citizens ages 18 to 55, were taken back to shore and turned over to Border Patrol, CBP said."It’s dangerous to travel on a crowded boat, out at sea, with no lights, and these smugglers took the added step of spray-painting the hull black so they would be difficult to spot at night," said Christopher Hunter, Deputy Director of Marine Operations for CBP in San Diego. "Smuggling organizations aren’t considering anyone’s safety when these make these illegal attempts, only what profits they can try to make."The 10 men were due to be returned to Mexico, CBP said. 1166
