DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) - Images of an extra-large mystery cat have opened a lot of eyes in East San Diego County community of Descanso.Off Viejas Grade Road, a wildlife camera on the land of Allen Walker's neighbor captured the video one evening last week.  It shows a large cat walking along a trail not far from homes.  Bobcats are routinely filmed by the camera, but Walker says this one appeared twice as big as the typical one."Little afraid for my corgis, because it would be breakfast or lunch ... I was pretty shocked about its size.  It's the biggest cat I've seen out here that's not a mountain lion," said Walker. We sent the image to SDSU research scientist Megan Jennings, who has studied the local bobcat population.  She confirmed the cat is in fact a bobcat - and a near-doubling in size would be highly unusual.  She says any extra-large bobcat is likely a male who has stumbled onto a steady food source. Walker knows what that source is: a huge presence of rabbits in the area. 1034

DENVER – Travis Reinking, the man accused of shooting and killing four people at a Tennessee Waffle House earlier this week, called 911 in Chaffee County, Colo. in March 2017 to say pop star Taylor Swift was stalking him and that people were controlling his online activities. The 911 call provides more insight into Reinking’s mental state while he was in Colorado, and his contact with Colorado law enforcement authorities, which Denver7 first reported Monday.Listen to the full 911 call in the player above. In the call, Reinking, who lived on W. 5th St. in Salida at the time while working for a crane operation company, says that someone has been stalking him and that “no one seems to take me seriously when I say that.”When the dispatcher asks Reinking who is stalking him, he replies, “Taylor Swift!”The dispatcher asks Reinking what she is doing that constitutes stalking. 887

DENVER -- "Save Our Children" read several signs held by a few dozen protesters on Saturday at the steps of Colorado's capitol in Denver. The message appeared simple enough."We are here to end human trafficking," explained Jacob Sledge, who organized the Save Our Children rally. "We are also here to make reforming laws against pedophiles."Speeches and action calls from Sledge and other marchers made clear their alleged intentions."We are here today to share survivor stories, to give them support from each other, and to let the abusers know we are not scared anymore," explained a protester ahead of a survivor sharing her heartbreaking story of abuse.Sledge made another thing clear: "We are not affiliated with QAnon."QAnon is a baseless, far-right conspiracy theory alleging that a cabal of demonic pedophiles is waging an underground war against President Donald Trump. It has gained significant traction among conspiracy websites like 4Chan. The theory has been identified by the FBI as a potential source of domestic terrorism.Though the organizer denied ties to the conspiracy theory, signs and posters held by protesters hinted at support for similar ideas. The signs at the protest alleged prominent Democratic politicians are engaged in a secret pedophile ring. When asked if this rally had QAnon ties, one protester responded, "possibly. It is hard to say right now.""You have to do your own research and know your own facts and decide for yourself," explained protester Carrie Lucero. The Facebook page tied to the 'Save Our Children' rally in Denver contains numerous conspiracies and allegations related to the QAnon theory. Posts on the page allege media complicity in pedophile rings, spread unfounded conspiracies about the involvement of celebrities and corporations in those rings, and call for violence, saying "dead pedophiles don't re-offend."Denver is not the first city to see rallies with close ties or related themes connected to QAnon. Rallies, under the banner "Save Our Children" and "Save the Children" have sprouted across the country and world. The esoteric 'Q' symbol, which shows support for the theory, has also appeared at Trump rallies and conservative protests since the idea gained traction.Trump has hinted support for followers of the theory, sharing several tweets from QAnon accounts that were later accused of antisemitism. He also said in a press conference this year that QAnon followers are his fans, and that they "love our country."The rally demonstrated the difficulty in separating the uplifting message of concern for the safety of children from the toxicity of unsubstantiated conspiracy theories peddled online. Before the demonstrators marched to various media outlets promoting their cause, a survivor shared her harrowing story."I am one in four and I will not be silent like those before me," she said with tears in her eyes. Statistics show that one in four children is sexually abused. "We are here today to take the first steps in to truly saving our children."This story was originally published by Sloan Dickey on KMGH in Denver. 3102

DENVER – Travis Reinking, the man suspected of killing four people at a Waffle House outside of Nashville on Sunday, was carrying a Colorado ID card with him when he was arrested Monday, Tennessee authorities said, and may have lived here for some time. The card is presumably the same Colorado ID card that Reinking, 29, was carrying last July when he was arrested for breaching a White House security barrier. An incident report obtained by Scripps affiliate KMGH-TV in Denver from the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. shows that Reinking was carrying a Colorado commercial driver’s license, along with a debit card, an iPhone and 7 in cash when he was arrested in July 2017.In the incident, Reinking allegedly told a U.S. Secret Service officer he needed to get into the White House to “speak with POTUS.”He had been blocking one of the pedestrian entrances, and said he was “a sovereign citizen” who “has a right to inspect the grounds,” according to the report. When the officer told Reinking again to stop blocking the entrance, he took his tie off and “balled it into a fist” before walking past the officer and the security guard, according to the report.“Do what you need to do. Arrest me if you have too [sic],” he told the officer, according to the report. But the officer grabbed him and escorted him outside, where he was arrested for unlawful entry.Additionally, Reinking appears to have lived in Salida, Colo. for some time in early 2017 and possibly in 2016.A “Word on the Street” column published in the Salida-based Mountain Mail in January 2017 shows that Reinking, who described himself as being from Salida, was asked, “What makes you happy?”He responded, “True love. Just because it’s the best thing that can happen in life.”On Monday, The Mountain Mail published another story confirming that Reinking had a Salida connection and that he was the man interviewed in the “Word on the Street” column.Reinking’s Facebook page also shows that several of his just 13 “friends” live in Salida and work for a crane service. Reinking’s father also owns a crane rental service in Illinois, where Reinking was living before moving to the Nashville area last fall, according to law enforcement authorities.Nashville Police Lt. Carlos Lara said Monday after Reinking was arrested that in addition to the Colorado ID, Reinking was also found with a semi-automatic gun, a holster, a flashlight, and ammunition. He said a tip led to Reinking’s arrest.Though Colorado authorities told Denver7 Monday they were unable to discuss Reinking’s driver’s license, the D.C. police report confirms it was a commercial license, which drivers have to be medically cleared for.In order to obtain a DOT medical card to qualify for a CDL, drivers have to clear a medical examination report that determines whether or not they are fit. Included in that evaluation is a mental health review. There have been some questions raised about Reinking’s mental fitness stemming from the Washington, D.C. incident and other incidents in Illinois. In the Illinois incidents, Reinking’s parents had told police that their son believed Taylor Swift was stalking him and that he’d made suicidal comments. After the White House incident, Illinois law enforcement took away four of his guns, then returned them to his father, who in turn passed them back to the younger Reinking, according to the FBI. One of the weapons was believed to have been used in Sunday's shooting. It’s unclear what Reinking meant when he declared himself a “sovereign citizen” during the White House incident, but the FBI tracks sovereign citizens and considers some of them to be domestic terrorists, they wrote in 2011. 3701
