But two who walk the halls of Tri-City Medical Center have their own stories of survival."I think every one of us, animal or human, has our own story. We all have our trials and tribulations. And so I think having animals that have been through some difficult times helps them relate with our patients in a much more profound way," said Aaron Byzak, Chief External Affairs Officer for Tri-City Medical Center.Two veterans of the Pet Therapy Program are Prince the poodle and Calamity Jane the golden retriever, one a cancer survivor and the other a trauma survivor. "She's a very strong, strong, little pup, she's got a mind of her own," said Shar Pauley, who rescued Calamity Jane. "And she tells me which rooms she'd like to visit. Sometimes she'll walk down that hallway and then she'll stop and say I think this person needs a visit." One of the leading COVID-19 vaccine candidates produced virus antibodies in every patient tested in a trial conducted earlier this year, according to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine.The published results describe a successful Phase I testing for the vaccine, which is being produced by biotech company Moderna. The vaccine is currently in Phase II of testing, and Dr. Anthony Fauci said Tuesday that the vaccine would move to the third and final phase by the end of the month.According to the New England Journal of Medicine report, Phase I was conducted in 45 test subjects. Subjects were divided into three groups of 15, each of which was given different doses of the vaccine.Every subject received two shots, each administered 28 days apart.According to the New England Journal of Medicine, the vaccine "induced anti–SARS-CoV-2 immune responses in all participants."The Journal did note that half of the participants indicated they suffered from side effects that included "fatigue, chills, headache, myalgia, and pain at the injection site," most of which came after the second injection. (KGTV) — Police Saturday released a sketch of man who they say grabbed a 16-year-old in a "bear hug" and tried to kidnap her on her way to school.The teenager was walking to El Camino High School on Thursday just before 7:30 a.m. when the suspect walked past her on Mesa Drive, Oceanside Police say. As the two crossed paths, the suspect turned around and grabbed her in a "bear hug." He also has a scab on the right side of his neck. The suspect was last seen wearing a tan pullover sweatshirt and black baggy, dirty jeans.
