SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new monolith was supposed to be unveiled at a Scripps Ranch shopping center on Wednesday, but it was found destroyed hours before the introduction ceremony.Several weeks ago, a mysterious monolith appeared at the Scripps Ranch Marketplace, attracting crowds and raising questions like where it came from and who put it there.However, several days later, the monolith was removed by a group of teenagers.The theft of the monolith was disappointing for many, including Nutmeg Bakery & Café co-owner Drew Hoffus. He told ABC 10News that his business not only had a first-class view of the monolith, but it helped bring in customers.“This year has been a challenge for everyone … The landmarks helped us out a lot. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A longtime North Park business has been forced to shutter its doors due to the economic toll of the pandemic.A&B Sporting Goods has sat on University Ave. for 79 years. The business told ABC 10News that it thrives off of local youth sports, which have largely been canceled this year due to the coronavirus.Owner Greg Schloss, whose father and grandfather worked at the store before him, said he hadn't planned on closing shop, but could not keep the business going any longer."I've worked here 40 years. The neighborhood is driven by a lot of kids playing ball in this neigborhood. She says she grew up around music thanks to her musician father who got her into singing and songwriting.Giaconi's love of singing led her to the American Idol judges."You go in there and honestly you just kind of black out. You talk to them and then you start singing and you just black out. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A La Jolla homeowner is facing millions of dollars in damage to his property after massive amounts of water flooded into his house Tuesday.Didier Jantz, the general contractor for the homeowner, said the owner wasn’t home when the water began flooding in. Crews doing work on the home on Encelia Drive noticed the water start coming in around 3 p.m.Crews say the water came from a neighborhood property, though it's unclear what ruptured and released the water. The city told 10News they sent a crew to turn off the water at a residence due to some type of leak, though it's unclear where the leak was and what caused it.“There are Asian Persian rugs everywhere, there’s a lot of personal damage, we got water in the walls, we got water in the ceilings, we got water coming through the ceiling lights,” Jantz said. 842

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A judge ruled Wednesday that a Navy commander will face a third trial on charges he tried to rape a junior officer in her home.John Michael Neuhart II asked the judge to dismiss all charges after a second jury was unable to reach a verdict.The judge dismissed charges of assault with intent to commit rape during burglary, burglary and resisting or delaying a peace officer.RELATED: Mistrial declared for former Navy commander accused of rapeThe judge added that prosecutors can proceed with a third trial in January on charges of attempted forcible rape and assault with intent to commit rape.Neuhart now faces six years behind bars and lifetime sex offender registration if found guilty. Neuhart had previously been facing life in prison.In the two trials combined, 21 out of 24 jurors voted to convict Neuhart.
