It all started at 20 years old on stage at the NFL draft when my dream came true, and now here I am about to turn 30 in a few months with a decision I feel is the biggest of my life so far. I will be retiring from the game of football today. I am so grateful for the opportunity that Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick gave to me when drafting my silliness in 2010. My life experiences over the last 9 years have been amazing both on and off the field. The people I have meet, the relationships I have built, the championships I have been apart of, I just want to thank the whole New England Patriots organization for every opportunity I have been giving and learning the great values of life that I can apply to mine. Thank you to all of Pats Nation around the world for the incredible support since I have been apart of this 1st class organization. Thank you for everyone accepting who I am and the dedication I have put into my work to be the best player I could be. But now its time to move forward and move forward with a big smile knowing that the New England Patriots Organization, Pats Nation, and all my fans will be truly a big part of my heart for rest of my life. It’s all hands on deck during harvest time at Infinite Harvest.This indoor, hydroponic farm in Colorado specializes in microgreens, young vegetables grown in a controlled environment and cropped shortly after they’ve sprouted.Production manager Luke Blough says microgreen sales have quadrupled in the past nine months with more consumers becoming more health, sustainability and environmentally conscious.“We kind of check all three of those boxes,” he said. “Our microgreen products are very nutrient dense; very flavorful. They’re sustainably grown locally and we have less environmental impact.”There's less environmental impact because of the way they’re grown. Stacking shelves of microgreens and growing them under LED lights means using about 95% less land than traditional farming.This method is catching on nationally.“Consumers are becoming more interested in microgreens,” said Sarah A. Johnson, Ph.D., with the food science and human nutrition department at Colorado State University. “They’re a relatively new agricultural food crop.”.In addition to the nutritional and environmental benefits, Johnson’s team found that microgreens could have major impacts in urban areas by making fresh produce more easily available to areas considered food deserts.“I think they have a lot of potential to kind of pop up all over the place,” she said. “Not just with these large companies but with smaller sort of pop-up, start-up companies as well.”As more farmers look to avoid unpredictable weather and leave less of a carbon footprint, experts predict microgreen consumption will continue growing nationwide“There are a couple of things we can do in a controlled environment that you can’t really do when you’re at the mercy of Mother Nature,” Blough said. 1768

It was a tough few months for the Cincinnati Zoo's beloved behemoth: Henry the Hippo had lost his appetite, only to regain it and lose it again; fought off a serious infection; and his kidneys appeared to be shutting down.The 36-year-old hippo — father to Fiona, whose underweight birth made her famous on social media — died today.Veterinarians and care staff had been trying to bring him back to health, but he continued to slide in recent weeks."We're doing everything we can to keep him comfortable," the zoo said in a recent blog post.According to the zoo, the median life expectancy for a Nile hippo is 35. He came to Cincinnati from Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, Missouri.His declining condition came near the tail-end of a pretty joyous year for hippo staff: They nurtured Fiona into childhood after she born six weeks early and half a calf's normal birth weight. Smartphone technology is giving you a way to do that without saying a word.Maybe you're in the back of a taxi or a ride share and you want to need to get help or at least let somebody know where you are. Or maybe you're walking by yourself and something or someone around you is making you feel a little uncomfortable. A few taps on your phone and help can be on the way.We know our cell phones can make calls. But if you need help, they can also be your voice if you can't speak.It's called Emergency SOS and it comes installed on Apple iPhones. If you have a newer model you hold the side button and one of the volume buttons. If you have an older model, you press the side button five times in a row. Either way the emergency sos slider pops up. You slide it, and a call goes straight to your local emergency dispatch.Agent Dutch Smith with the Lakewood Police Department says this type of technology can be very helpful. When the service is used, the person does not have to say a word, and it shows the dispatcher the number and most importantly, the location."We can do triangulation to try and find out where you live," Smith said. "So basically what you're doing is you're pinging off the cell towers to find out exactly where the call came from."From there, your information is automatically sent to law enforcement on the ground closest to you, so they can head out to help."It may be a life or death situation involving where you need police response," Agent Smith said. "Location is paramount for us to be able to get there in a timely fashion to be able to deal with whatever has been called in."When the call ends, it even sends a text to your emergency contacts. But dispatchers ask that you only use this tool when you really need help, not to test it out.Taking the phone beyond a tool that helps you in every facet of life, to one that could help law enforcement potentially save it."I think it's two fold," Agent Smith said. "It really can help us all out."Samsung's Galaxy Android phone has a similar emergency mode, but you need to set it up by going into settings section, and "privacy and security." It's that time again when there's speculation that Idris Elba might be cast as James Bond.For years, this has been a request (and by "request," we mean "demand") of many who could totally see the "Luther" star slipping into a tuxedo to play everyone's favorite spy.This time, a report from UK publication The Daily Star?has stirred excitement. In it, director Antoine Fuqua says that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli believes it's time to bring some diversity to the role and has left the door open for Elba to potentially succeed the current 007, Daniel Craig.Mind you, no one has confirmed this publicly as of yet and CNN has reached out to reps for Elba and Broccoli.When asked about the reported comments, a spokesperson for Fuqua told CNN, "This is not accurate."But already Twitter is excited about the possibility, naturally.The 45-year-old Elba has also been endorsed by a former 007.Actor Pierce Brosnan told the Radio Times back in 2015 he thought Elba would make a good Bond (though in June 2018, he threw his support behind Tom Hardy as the next spy who loves us.)For his part, Elba told CNN in 2014 that he would love to play the role."It would be such an honor," he said.
