American Apparel is coming back.Gildan Activewear, the Canadian company that owns the clothing brand, announced on Thursday that it will open a physical American Apparel store in Los Angeles this fall.American Apparel filed for bankruptcy in 2016. This will be the first location to open since May 2017, when Gildan finished liquidating the stores that were still open. Gildan is not planning to open others."We're treating this as a flagship pilot store," said Garry Bell, vice president of corporate marketing and communications for Gildan. He said the store will be "very experiential and very interactive," but did not provide details. The news was reported earlier by Bloomberg. Before the liquidation, American Apparel had 110 stores in the United States and a total of 193 locations worldwide, according to a court filing.Gildan, which also owns the tights brands Peds and Kushyfoot, purchased the American Apparel trademark after the company filed for bankruptcy. Then it relaunched American the brand online in the United States in August 2017.Several retail stores have recently declared bankruptcy as shoppers increasingly move online. Last year, US store closing announcements more than tripled and set a record, according to the retail think tank Fung Global Retail and Technology.Bon-Ton Stores, one of the country's largest department store companies, said in April that it plans to liquidate all 256 of its stores, which include Bon-Ton, Boston Store and Carson's. In March, Toys "R" Us said that it was closing all of its US stores. But American Apparel faced unique challenges. The company, which was known for its racy ads, fired its controversial founder and CEO, Dov Charney, twice in 2014 amid allegations of mismanagement and violations of the company's sexual harassment policies. The 2016 bankruptcy filing noted that "over the last two years, the company lacked a marketing plan and engaged in ad hoc advertising that lacked focus." 2003
YouTube star Brooke Houts is the subject of a police investigation over a video that appears to show her abusing her Doberman.Los Angeles Police Officer Rosario Cervantes said the department's animal cruelty task force is looking into the matter but didn't offer further details.Houts posted the video to her YouTube channel, which has more than 330,000 subscribers. The video has since been taken down, though it's unclear whether that was done by her or by YouTube. However, viewers shared the video on social media, where it drew widespread criticism. In the 50-second video, Houts says she is attempting to prank her dog. "I put plastic wrap on the door. I'm gonna have him run out," she says. "We're just gonna see what he does."The video cuts, and Houts is then heard asking, "it doesn't faze you?" The dog jumps on her chest, and she responds by slapping him across the face.Later, Houts gets closer to the camera and engages in another altercation with the dog. She can be heard yelling "stop" and then appears to spit on the dog.Toward the end of the video, the dog attempts to get close to Houts' face, and she appears to lunge toward him, pushing him across the room.On Tuesday, Houts tweeted that she apologizes to anyone who has been affected negatively by the footage."Anything I say isn't going to make those who believe I'm a bad person stop believing that," she wrote. "And I'm aware of this."Houts adds that the way she appeared in the video is out of character for her."I want to clarify that I am NOT a dog abuser or animal abuser in any way, shape, or form," she wrote. "Anyone who has witnessed or heard true animal abuse will be able to clearly see that."She also denied spitting on the dog but said "I understand how it could look like I did."Houts said that her dog, Sphinx, is in need of costly one-on-one training and that she and her family are getting him a trainer.Neither Houts nor YouTube has responded to requests for comment about the incident or for details on whether there will be any repercussions on Houts' channel.According to YouTube's 2087

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - A San Marcos family is dealing with an unbearable loss. The Houghton family was involved in a horrific crash that killed their 13-year-old son, Bryce, Saturday night on the 405 in Orange County. The family of five was headed to San Luis Obispo to visit relatives, according to Michael Houghton. Their 17-year-old daughter was driving, when their van began to slow down. Michael says it seemed like it was running out of gas. It stopped in the HOV lane. Michael, his wife, and three kids decided to stay in the van buckled up and call for help. While they waited for 911 and a tow truck, CHP says a pickup truck slammed into the van. Another vehicle hit the pickup truck after the initial crash. The CHP arrested the driver of the pickup truck on suspicion of DUI. Officers said the driver of the pickup had major injuries. Four people in the third vehicle received minor injuries. Michael described his youngest son as a jovial person who loved to make people smile. “Short in stature but big in personality,” Michael said. “One of the things he loved the most was to make people happy.” The Houghton’s other two children, 15-year-old Mason, and 17-year-old Carissa, received minor injuries, though Mason will be on crutches, according to his dad. Michael’s wife, Gael, needed surgery. Michael received injuries to the back of his head, and injuries to his eye that had previously undergone a procedure. The family was very involved with Anthem Church in Vista, as well as Bread of Life Rescue Mission in Oceanside. The Houghtons had organized an event for the homeless on the Saturday before the crash. Bryce was a student at San Elijo Middle School. Mason and Carissa go to San Marcos High School. There is a GoFundMe page started for the family. 1799
(CNN) -- Cindy McCain, the widow of Sen. John McCain, posted a hateful message she received from a stranger the same day President Donald Trump disparaged her late husband.McCain posted a photo of the private message on Twitter and wrote, "I want to make sure all of you could see how kind and loving a stranger can be. I'm posting her note for her family and friends could see."The message said the sender was "glad" the late Arizona Republican is dead, and called him a "traitorous piece of warmongering s***." The message also attacked her daughter, Meghan McCain, criticizing her appearance and saying she hopes she "chokes to death."More than six months after John McCain's death, Trump revived his years-long feud with the senator over the weekend. Trump said on Tuesday, "I was never a fan of John McCain and I never will be."The President tweeted several attacks on the late senator, focusing on McCain's ties to the controversial Russia dossier and his vote against repealing Obamacare, and said McCain had been "last in his class" at the US Naval Academy.Despite Trump's comments, he gave more than ,000 to the campaign to elect McCain president in 2008, according to the Federal Election Commission's website.Meghan McCain fired back at the President on Monday on ABC's "The View," the show she co-hosts, and said, "Listen, he spends his weekend obsessing over great men because he knows it, and I know it, and all of you know it: He will never be a great man.""My father was his kryptonite in life, he was his kryptonite in death," Meghan McCain said, adding that she thought Trump's life was "pathetic."John McCain died in 2018 after a battle with brain cancer. The President was not invited to his funeral. The senator delivered a speech in 2017 repudiating the President, and warned the United States against turning toward "half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems."When Trump was running for president in 2015, he said John McCain was "not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured."During the final days of the last presidential election, McCain withdrew his support for Trump when the "Access Hollywood" video was made public, showing the 2016 Republican nominee bragging about sexually assaulting women.Their long-running feud escalated when the senator voted no on the "skinny repeal" of the Affordable Care Act in 2017, essentially killing Republican attempts to undo President Barack Obama's signature legislation. 2560
