SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Mesmerizing works of art will hit San Diego's this Labor Day weekend as more than 300 tons of sand transform Broadway Pier into a sand sculptor's playground.From Aug. 31 to Sept. 2, the Port of San Diego will host the U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge along the city's waterfront. This year's theme of "Wonder" will pay tribute to the Port's Wonderfront 2019 events, including Wonderspaces and Wonderfront music festival this November.The competition will feature 12 master sculptors from around the world to create museum-level quality sculptures out of nothing but sand. The mall is offering family game nights from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday nights now through August 9. “Borrow one of our board games or play one of our life-sized versions of popular games like Tic-Tac-Toe, Jenga, Connect Four and Cornhole,” the mall says. A summer concert series will also be making its way to the mall on Fridays between 4 and 6 p.m. through the beginning of August. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Just days before masses of people are expected to descend on Del Mar for the San Diego County Fair, a busy road has reopened following a bluff collapse. City crews completed a retaining wall and reopened Jimmy Durante Boulevard Wednesday afternoon. The road wasn't originally expected to reopen until June 4, several days after the fair opens on May 31. The cost of cleanup and stabilizing the cliff is expected to cost million.
