(KGTV) -- A forum discussing the growing problem of online hate will be held this Wednesday, September 30th.It is hosted by the San Diego Anti-Hate Crime Coalition. The group coordinates outreach, education, and dialogue regarding bullying, hate incidents, and hate crimes in the San Diego region.With the pandemic and many people at home, the organization’s chairperson said hate speech has increased.“A lot of time, [people] don’t have much else to do, but write and speak their mind anonymously. (KGTV) - An El Camino High School teacher is working to end child hunger, starting in her own classroom. Kathy Easterbook started a food pantry for her students. Nearly half of the teens at the school qualify for free lunch. Thanks to Easterbook, students can drop by every week to collect what they need. (KGTV) -- A new report sheds light on some of the most dangerous intersections for pedestrians in North County and what can be done to prevent injuries and fatalities at the intersections. According to Circulate San Diego, 1,992 people were injured, and 101 people were killed in 2018 while walking and biking on roads throughout San Diego County. While the report paints a grim picture of the problem, it also includes solutions. Some strategies to prevent crashes include reducing speed limits, redesigning streets to make them more accessible, raising awareness and enhancing data-driven traffic enforcement. Cities included in the report include Carlsbad, Del Mar, Oceanside, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Poway, Escondido, Vista and San Marcos.
