(KGTV) - Attorneys for a former student of the Bishop’s School in La Jolla announced Tuesday a child sexual abuse lawsuit against the elite private school and the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. The man claims he was repeatedly molested by a female computer science teacher starting when he was 16 years old. 10News has reached out to the San Diego Police Department and The Bishop's School about the allegations but neither have commented at this time. Calls to the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego were unanswered Tuesday afternoon.The alleged abuse included sexual intercourse on campus, at [the defendant's] house, and other La Jolla and San Diego area locations, the lawsuit states. “On multiple occasions, teachers and Bishop’s Headmistress saw [the Plaintiff] exiting the computer lab together, with no other person in the room,” the plaintiff's attorneys said in a news release. The teacher was 32 years old at the time the alleged affair started, and was married with children, according to the release. In the release, attorney and victim’s advocate Vince Finaldi describes a long history of "criminal sexual activity" at the prestigious private high school."The Bishop’s School is a prestigious institution which charges parents more than ,000 per year in tuition. They advertise their affiliation with the Episcopal Dioceses as a way to assure parents of the moral rectitude of the school. Yet, they failed miserably in their most basic responsibility—keeping their students safe from sexual predators.” In May of this year, 10News reported that the school investigated numerous claims of sexual abuse at the campus. The school said that "14 alumni have come forward to report incidents of sexual misconduct."The school also reported then that "ten different perpetrators were identified as having engaged in sexual misconduct that would potentially constitute a crime at the time of occurrence."READ: The Bishop's School dealing with multiple claims of sexual misconduct spanning several decadesTuesday's news release included a statement from the plaintiff saying they want to keep their name private per "of every victim of child sexual assault in California." The plaintiff also advises other victims of abuse to contact law enforcement.“My message to other victims of abuse at the Bishop’s School is -- contact law enforcement. Hold your abuser accountable. Protect other children. Your privacy will be respected, and you will be believed," the plaintiff said. 2580

(KGTV) -- The 75-year-old pilot who was killed when his small passenger plane crashed in Northern California Friday night has been identified as Carl Morrison of Fallbrook. Sonoma County Sheriff's Office responded to a call from the US Air Force at about 6:40 p.m. reporting an emergency transponder activation from a small passenger plane in the city of Petaluma, about 40 miles north of San Francisco.  Deputies were dispatched to the location but were unable to locate the plane."Around the same time, a woman from San Diego County had called Petaluma PD and reported her husband was overdue home," said Sgt. Spencer Crum of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.Shortly after 10:00 PM deputies spotted a small fire in a remote ravine near the 3600 block of Manor Lane, Crum said. Deputies reached the location of the fire and discovered the downed aircraft and the body of a man believed to be the pilot.The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.Morrison was believed to have left the Petaluma Airport en route to San Diego County in his Mooney M20 fix winged airplane, the sheriff's office said.Bob Morrison, Carl Morrison's oldest son, said that Carl Morrison was a retired U.S. Marine who served twenty years. He was also the Region Vice Commander of the Fallbrook Senior Squadron 87 Civil Air Patrol. He served with them since 2006.In addition to being a father of six, he was a lawyer who owned an environmental consulting company, Bob Morrison said. He was in Northern California on business, returning home, when his plane crashed. Bob Morrison said his father had been flying for 20 years, which was a lifelong dream of his. "He left his mark wherever he went in a positive way," Bob Morrison said. 1794

(KGTV) — Thousands of passengers remained stranded on a cruise ship off the San Francisco coastline Saturday, after 21 people aboard tested positive for the new coronavirus this week.The Grand Princess cruise ship said they are awaiting direction from state and local health officials about where they will be allowed to port. (KGTV) - The start of a new year will bring significant changes to laws for California drivers, including those with a history of driving under the influence. First time and repeat DUI offenders whose violations resulted in injury will be required to use an ignition interlock device for a period between one and two years. The device is the size of a cell phone and wired into a vehicle’s ignition system. In order to start the vehicle, the driver must blow into the device. The user’s blood alcohol level must be below a pre-set low limit, usually .02, according to the Centers for Disease Control. RELATED: Here are the new laws going into effect on California roads in 2019If a measurable amount of alcohol is detected, the ignition interlock enters a brief lock-out period of a few minutes, with a longer lockout for any subsequently failed test. The system is also capable of detecting mouthwash, which will trigger a positive test until the alcohol dissipates from the driver’s mouth, usually within minutes. Once on the road, the devices have ‘running retests’ which require drivers to blow into the locks at random intervals. If the driver fails, the vehicle’s horn will honk or the lights will flash to alert law enforcement to a violation. The devices aren’t cheap for DUI offenders. They must pay between -150 to install, and about -80 per month for monitoring and calibration. The standards for the devices are established by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The CDC has linked ignition interlock devices to lower DUI rates. The agency’s research found repeat offenses dropped about two-thirds due to the locks. Mothers Against Drunk Drivers reports the average drunk driver has driven under the influence 80 times before a first arrest. More than 2 million drunk drivers have had three or more prior convictions, according to MADD. California is one of 31 states to approve the devices. 1941
