ULAN BATOR, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Mongolian counterpart, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, signed a joint declaration here Thursday to upgrade bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Ibrahim al-Ameri, a professor of politics at Baghdad University, said Xi's proposal would boost economic, social and cultural cooperation between China and the Arab world.

China and Zambia have engaged in frequent exchanges in politics, trade and culture in recent years, which not only boost their traditional friendship, but also promote the sound and steady development of bilateral ties, Li said while meeting with Zambia's first President Kenneth Kaunda.

The Vice President also urged people to balance environmental protection and ecological restoration. He said the government should carry out rehabilitation of the eco-system as work of fundamental significance and create the social attitude to be nature friendly and protect the environment.

The two senior officials exchanged views on China-U.S. economic ties as well as the preparations for the sixth round of the bilateral Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Beijing in early July.
