(CNS) -- An online petition urging a delay of the scheduled reopening of the Disneyland Resort due to the risk of guests contracting coronavirus has acquired more than 26,000 signatures as of this weekend.The change.org petition was started by a user called "We Are Anonymous" and states that because COVID-19 cases are rising, Disneyland Resort is "endangering cast members and guests to be exposed to (coronavirus)" with its planned reopening of Disneyland and California Adventure on July 17. The Downtown Disney shopping district is scheduled to reopen July 9."There are more cases now than when the parks closed on March 13th, 2020," the petition said. "Health Officials have stated that the 2nd wave of Covid-19 will be worse. An armed robber at a south side Chicago hot dog stand accidentally shot himself in the genitals during his escape, according to the Chicago Tribune.According to the Tribune, 19-year-old Terrion Pouncy robbed the Original Maxwell Street Polish around 6 a.m. Tuesday.As he ran away, Pouncy tried to put the gun in his pants. It went off, according to the Tribune, shooting him in the genitals and the thigh. He eventually called 911 to report he had been shot.He was taken to the hospital and charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. 570

As a number of students across the country head back to school remotely, many children are getting online for their classes every day. But school districts across the country are approaching the use of computer cameras differently."One of the things we're so worried about our kids missing out on is oxytocin. I know we don't think about it that way but that's the chemical we get when we get to be with or see or hear people that are important to us. The feeling of connectivity, that feeling of being okay is really benefited by seeing faces," said Dr. Deborah Gilboa, a family physician and youth development expert also known as "Doctor G" who has created an e-course for parents and educators to help them navigate back to school virtually. Those droplets are produced into the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, sings, chants, shouts, etc. They can then land on other people nearby or be inhaled by others.The CDC recommends people wear a cloth face covering in public settings, to reduce the transmission of droplets into the air.“There are no high quality studies regarding the use of masks with additional types of various filters placed in them or with ‘breathing valves.’ While widely marketed with various claims, these have not been studied at all and it is unclear if they help or hurt the overall filtration efficacy against microorganisms,” read a statement from Marc Sala, M.D., Assistant Professor of medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.People are being asked to leave N95 masks (without a valve) and surgical masks available for medical staff and essential personnel who are coming into daily contact with many infected patients.An N95 mask with an exhalation valve is not recommended because unfiltered air is sent through the valve and into the air, potentially carrying coronavirus droplets. “The presence of an exhalation valve reduces exhalation resistance, which makes it easier to breathe (exhale).
