SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man suspected of trying to burn down an Albertson's sign in El Cajon pleaded not guilty in Superior Court Friday.Joshua Edgell Wright was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly set fire to the sign at the grocery store off Broadway. A local business owner followed him to a Smart and Final in Lakeside, where he was apprehended. Wright appeared in court via video conference and said nothing. Records show he's been charged with 16 crimes in the last three years, including for petty theft, shoplifting, and resisting arrest.Deputy District Attorney Brandon Owens declined to discuss Wright's criminal history. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man is searching for the good Samaritan who pulled him from a rip current in La Jolla this week.Patrick Fitzpatrick was swimming at Windansea Beach Tuesday."It took a snap second before I was in control to completely out of control," Fitzpatrick recalled, after becoming caught in a rip current. "There was no way on Earth that I was going to live from this. I was in a panic. I couldn't use my arms and legs now."Someone on shore, only known as "Dustin," noticed Fitzpatrick struggling and swam out to help him."He's a guardian angel. He owe him my life, he saved my life," Fitzpatrick says.Dustin swam out and kept Fitzpatrick calm before more help could arrive and get him to shore.Fitzpatrick is hoping to reunite with his mystery rescuer to say thank you."The humanity that comes from an act of kindness like this, from a perfect stranger," Fitzpatrick said. 892

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local non-profit organization named "Promises2Kids" is helping children who are in San Diego's foster care system receive some of the structure and support that may be lacking due to the challenges of their home life."Having extra support and some stability is something I'm really grateful for because there's been so many times in my life when that's been absent," said Tiffani Hamilton, who has participated in the program for several years.Promises2Kids provides economic, educational, and emotional assistance, from purchasing school supplies and other items, to tutoring, to helping teenage children prepare and go through the college application process. They also provide mentors, who often form lifelong relationships with the students they guide.Hamilton's story is not unusual. She and her five siblings were raised by a single mother, who struggled with addiction and abusive relationships until her death. Hamilton was separated from her siblings when she entered the foster care system, bouncing from home to home. She credits Promises2Kids for helping give her the assistance and support she needed to achieve her goal of going to college."It's given me an experience that I never thought I would have. It's definitely shaped me into who I'm becoming.
