SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- This Saturday, the City of San Diego invites all children to play in the mud.In a celebration of nature and friendship, “International Mud Day” encourages kids to get dirty together. First celebrated between Australia and Nepal in 2009, the holiday has spread to cities across the world.Saturday will mark San Diego’s 2nd Mud Day celebration. All children and their families are invited to Crown Point Park in Mission Bay from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.After a successful celebration in 2018, the City has expanded the event to include obstacle courses, nature crafts, and more. From mud forts to food trucks, there will be many ways to families to have fun getting dirty.Dr. Bronner’s Magic Foam Experience will make a special appearance, to make sure no one tracks mud back home.The event is free, but families are encouraged to register here. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The San Diego Padres are heading to the postseason, and while fans can’t attend games at Petco Park, the team is giving the Friar Faithful a chance to cheer them on at the ballpark while in their cars.The Padres Postseason Watch Party will take place during next week’s Wild Card round, with the drive-in event happening in Petco Park’s Lexus Premier Lot on K Street, off 14th Street.RVs and campers will not be allowed at the watch party.The games will be shown on three separate large LED video screens, and fans at the event will be able to choose from different restaurant partners -- depending on the game -- when it comes to the ballpark eats. Fans will also be able to order standard Petco Park fare, as well as team merchandise, through the MLB Ballpark app.The team is reminding those who attend that health and safety measures will be in place, such as guests remaining in their vehicles unless they are visiting a retailer onsite or using a restroom.Face masks are required for all fans; the team says all staff members at the event will be wearing masks and conducting routine cleaning.Tickets for Game 1 (Sept. 30); Game 2 (Oct. 1); and Game 3 (if necessary, Oct. 2) of the Wild Card round are available for purchase.For more information on the event and to buy tickets, visit https://www.mlb.com/padres/tickets/drive-in. 1361

This will mark just the second appearance at Petco Park for the Astros since joining the American League and the third visit to Petco Park for the Angels,” the team said.“For Interleague road contests, the Padres will visit Texas (August 17-18), Los Angeles (September 1-2), Oakland (September 4-6) and Seattle (September 18-20). The club’s visit to Texas’ Globe Life Field will be its first to the brand-new ballpark.”Three of the team’s four home weekends will be against National League West opponents, including a total of two weekend series against the Diamondbacks and one against the Giants. The Astros will round out the home weekend schedule.This year on Labor Day, the Padres will host the Rockies. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Thirteen people overcoming a unique set of obstacles plan to conquer a 13.1-mile marathon this weekend.They're called the Lucky 13."It takes a lot of courage, and you've got to be really brave, even just to apply," said Paul Carey, the Lucky 13 Coordinator, and Head Coach.The Tri-City Medical Center program assists those who have had or are currently overcoming health obstacles to achieve their fitness goals. For six months, they're professionally trained and receive wellness support ahead of the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Half-Marathon."Everything good I have in my life can be traced back to Lucky 13 and being part of that," said Carey, who was a participant years ago.For 30 years Carey felt trapped in his bipolar diagnosis.During that time, he was on heavy medications, had several psychiatric hospital stays, and underwent 50 sessions of electroconvulsive therapy.Then he found the Lucky 13 program."It's an endless foundation of support that's just something really remarkable," said Carey. If you'd like to be a part of the next Lucky 13, Tri-City will accept applications from February through the end of June. The program is free and anyone can apply. 1201
