SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — On the Fourth of July, San Diego Humane Society veterinarians saw a rare patient admitted: a Bald Eagle.The eagle was brought to the society's Project Wildlife center by SoCal Parrots after it was observed on the ground for a couple of days at Barrett Honor Camp in Alpine.Caregivers haven't said what the prognosis is, but the bird is in the facility's critical care unit. The eagle was was dehydrated and given fluids, and has been treated for mitesNo further information as to the bird's condition was provided. SDHS hopes to nurse the bird back to health so that it may be released back into the wild."It is extremely rare for San Diego Humane Society to admit a Bald Eagle. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Opponents of  San Diego's new short-term rental regulations are accusing the city council of violating the Brown Act when it passed the new rules earlier this month. A letter drafted by an attorney on behalf of Air B and B, Home Away and Share San Diego was sent to the council Monday. It alleges the council violated the law when it made significant changes to the original proposal up for approval and then voted without allowing for more public comment. What they passed would essentially ban people from renting out anything other than their primary residence or a guesthouse on their property. The opponents are asking the council to hold another hearing. The city council is scheduled to hear a second reading of the short-term rental regulations Wednesday, August 1.  852

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for an at-risk man who disappeared from a senior living facility late Saturday afternoon. According to police, 77-year-old Mario Aello left The Shores Post-Acute senior living facility around 4:45 p.m. Saturday. Aello reportedly told another patient he had plans to leave the facility to visit his sister in Sonora, Mexico. Aello suffers from short-term dementia and type two diabetes, police say. Aello is described as five feet, seven inches tall with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, a black and gray jacket, blue shorts and brown shoes. 610

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Normal Street in Hillcrest Friday, things were anything but normal.   Tim Henderson and his colleagues were checking email in the street."Just a minute ago, we had a meeting out here," he says while pointing to an assortment of chairs.    He and his co-workers at KTUA, a landscape architecture and planning firm, set up a little home office in a spot usually occupied by 3 to 4 parked cars.   The space was decorated with plants and patio furniture.Welcome to “Park(ing) Day 2017,” billed as a worldwide event where artists and designers transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks.    The event ran Friday from 9AM – 3PM, with several downtown businesses also taking park."We're in a ‘car-centric’ world, we always have to supply places for cars,” Tim explained.  “We're making a statement: during some part of the year, you can come out into a space not  being used for cars -- and have a park!"Henderson and his work buddies barbecued in the parking spots and even roasted s’mores.Parking is at a premium in Hillcrest, but Henderson said nobody seemed to mind them taking up the spots.    In fact, he said drivers had been slowing down to catch a glimpse at the “front yard” they created on the street.“They love it,” he said. 1351
