SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A pair of thieves stole a safe and pistol-whipped a woman during a home-invasion robbery in the Jamacha-Lomita neighborhood, police said Tuesday.The robbery happened shortly before 5:10 p.m. Monday at a group home on Blackstone Court, a short, dead-end street off Meadowbrook Drive south of Jamacha Road, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.A man and a woman entered through the back door of the home, then began asking around for the manager of the home, Buttle said. When a 40-year-old woman told them the manager lived upstairs, the pair began looking around and the male suspect spotted a safe.The man picked up the safe and an altercation ensued, during which he pistol-whipped the 40-year-old victim, the officer said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Firefighters today came to the rescue of a 4-year-old girl who got one of her hands caught in an escalator at the Fashion Valley mall.The accident occurred in a Bloomingdale's store at the Friars Road shopping center shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.After emergency personnel freed the child from the mechanized stairway, medics took her to Rady Children's Hospital for treatment of injuries of undisclosed severity, the city agency reported. 511

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Masked intruders threatened a couple with guns and slashed the male victim with a knife today during a daybreak residential robbery in a Corridor-area neighborhood.The 27-year-old man and 20-year-old woman awoke at their residence in the 3200 block of Bramson Place about 6:30 a.m. to find the thieves next to their bed, pointing guns at them and demanding valuables, according to San Diego police. One of the intruders held a knife to the man's throat, Officer Robert Heims said.During the robbery, the male victim suffered several cuts, Heims said.Details on the severity of the wounds were not released.The thieves stole an unknown amount and type of items from the couple before fleeing, according to police. 738

She said that days before, Colbert had called Davies at least 50 times and was not acting right.Colbert was rambling, saying he had special powers and was part of the New World Order, Tralla said.The attorney said Colbert was showing signs of mental illness by age 6, and was diagnosed with schizophrenia by age 15. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A public hearing regarding the proposed placement of a convicted sex offender at a supervised home in Pauma Valley is scheduled for July 31, officials said today.Joseph Bocklett, 75, was convicted of three sexual offenses over a 19- year period involving victims between the ages of 4 and 9, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. He was last sentenced in 2000 to a 17-year prison term and later civilly committed to Coalinga State Hospital to undergo treatment.Bocklett is classified as a Sexually Violent Predator, a designation for those convicted of sexually violent offenses and diagnosed with a mental disorder that makes them a danger to the public.Bocklett petitioned the court last year to be granted release into the Conditional Release program and on Monday, the Department of State Hospitals proposed that Bocklett be housed at 15077 Adams Drive.Sexually Violent Predators are monitored via GPS ankle devices and are typically placed in low population areas.Members of the public may submit comments regarding the proposed placement location until July 14.
