MURRIETA, Calif. (KGTV) - The father of a solar power worker injured in a Murrieta explosion wants answers about the disaster. Clay Borel’s 24-year-old son Anthony was working for Horizon Solar Panel the day the home blew up, KABC reported. "He was in pretty bad shape. I could see the cuts, and his head, and his face, legs, burned real bad on his arms, legs and face,” the father said. Anthony Borel was one of 14 people injured in the blast and can’t remember what happened that day. A man who worked for SoCal Gas died. Borel's father wants to know why the area was not evacuated between the time the gas started leaking and the explosion, KABC reports."That's enough time to say hey, move to the other side of the street, get out of the blast zone, while we figure out what's going on, so we can eliminate the threat." NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are looking for the driver of a BMW that crashed into a church fence in National City while attempting to escape a separate hit-and-run crash.According to National City police, it happened around 12:15 a.m. on Palm Avenue, leaving behind a trail of destruction in front of the church.Police say it all started when the BMW driver rear-ended a white Camaro at the intersection of Division Street and Palm Avenue. Moments later, the driver hit the gas trying to speed away from the crash but then hit another car, lost control, and crashed into a church fence.The BMW caught fire, but witnesses helped put it out before firefighters arrived.Witnesses say they saw a man and possibly one passenger running from the scene.No one was hurt.Police did find a shoe left behind at the scene and hope it will help lead to the suspect driver. 878

Multiple people were busy Monday morning in Fort Pierce rescuing baby sea turtles that were stuck in seaweed from the high surf and strong winds of Hurricane Irma.The rescue was occurring at 10 a.m. at Jetty Park. A man named Eric said he spoke with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, who told him to put wet sand in a bucket and collect the stranded turtles.    FWC originally said to put the turtles back into the water but later changed their mind.“Originally FWC told me to put them back into the water, but we noticed that they were just coming right back onto the shore because the waves are just too strong for these little creatures,” said Eric.He said when other people in the area saw what he was doing, they jumped in to help with the rescue.The group of people were frantically digging through a massive mound of seaweed with their bare hands to save as many turtles as possible.By 10 a.m., the group had rescued about 50 to 60 baby sea turtles and nine eggs that were not broken. Unfortunatly they found about 20 small turtles that did not survive Irma.FWC said they come by later to collect the turtles.  1181

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Joe Biden will not be traveling to Milwaukee to accept the Democratic presidential nomination, the Democratic National Convention Committee announced Wednesday.The DNCC said Biden would not be accepting the nomination at the Democratic National Convention, which is scheduled to begin on Aug. 17, citing coronavirus as the reason.Other speakers for the DNC will also no longer travel to Milwaukee. (KGTV) - The city of National City set a record in the 2019 Fiscal Year for the amount of grant money they received to pay for road upgrade projects.According to information provided to 10News, National City got around million for what they call "Active Transportation" projects."If we don't get these grants, we're basically just doing roadway maintenance for the next year," says City Engineer Steve Manganiello.The grants will pay for a long list of projects focused on improving bike lanes and pedestrian walkways throughout National City. This comes as cities all across San Diego work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by emphasizing alternative forms of transporation over driving."We need to give people that don't have acces to vehicles a safe network to bike, to walk and to use transit," says Manganiello. "I think we're well on our way."The city won 14 competitive grants in fiscal year 2018-19, which ends July 1. City Manager Brad Raulston says a unique combination of cooperation, need and preparation made it happen."We're the right size in terms of being small enough that we collaborate well," says Raulston.
