SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The California Highway Patrol arrested 58 people for alleged intoxicated driving in San Diego County during its annual Thanksgiving holiday enforcement period this year.CHP officers made the arrests between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Sunday in the agency's jurisdiction in the county, which includes all freeways, as well as roads in unincorporated areas.All available officers were to be deployed to catch drunk or drug- impaired drivers, speeders and other traffic violators during the enforcement period.Last year, 66 people were arrested for impaired driving in San Diego County over the Thanksgiving holiday.Statewide, the agency made 855 arrests for impaired driving during the enforcement period, down from 965 last year. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego-based medical equipment manufacturer ResMed Corp. has agreed to pay more than .5 million to resolve allegations that it paid kickbacks to suppliers, sleeps labs and other health care providers in exchange for referrals and prescriptions for its products, the Department of Justice announced Wednesday.The government accused ResMed of violating the Anti-Kickback Statute of the False Claims Act by providing free or below-cost medical equipment to companies in several states. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County public health officials have reported 2,686 new COVID-19 infections -- the 26th consecutive day with more than 1,000 cases.On Saturday, there were no new virus-related deaths reported.Saturday was the 18th day with more than 2,000 new cases.Another 35 people also were hospitalized, according to Saturday's data, and another two were sent to intensive care units.The county's cumulative cases increased to 142,647 and the death toll remained at 1,402.Nine new community outbreaks were confirmed on Friday.
