SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A gaping hole in an Allied Gardens hillside has many residents worried of a potential catastrophe.Outside of John and Sandy Knox’s bedroom window is a massive sinkhole that has already swallowed up their tree. The couple fears their home could be next.A broken-down drain pipe that is 50 feet deep and 60 feet wide is believed to be the cause of the hole.On Tuesday, ABC 10News spotted City of San Diego crews taking measurements and assessing the sinkhole.John Knox said he owns his mobile home, but a property management company owns the land it sits on and might be on the hook for fixing it.According to Knox, the management company has ignored his calls regarding the hole.ABC 10News learned the city is now investigating. 755

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A burglary at a shuttered salon in the College Area has dealt a 'punch to the gut' to an owner struggling to keep her business open.Just before 6 a.m. Sunday morning, video shows someone at the door of 'DO Beauty Boutique on El Cajon Boulevard. In the video, the door can be heard being pried open for several minutes, before the burglar lets himself in. Another intruder soon follows. With flashlights shining, they go shopping for more than 20 minutes before ripping down the surveillance camera."It's gut-wrenching. Just trying not to cry," said salon owner Tiffany Schaaff.Schaaff who opened the salon three years ago."They cleaned us out. Definitely a punch to the gut," said Schaaff.Shelves full of retail hair products are now empty. Also missing were tools of the trade, including flat irons, blow dryers, and scissors. The thieves even took drawers to carry out their haul.The total loss, including damage to the front door, is now at ,000 and climbing. Schaaff has insurance, but even the deductible is a hardship."Very trying. Definitely a month-to-month situation as to whether we are going to continue," said Schaaff.The salon is in its third shutdown of the pandemic. Yearly revenues are down about 75%."We’re bleeding out our pockets ... There’s 0 left in the salon account and we’ve cleared my savings," said Schaaff.An emotional Schaff vows to fight to keep her salon open, but it’s getting tougher every day, and this break-in just dealt her even more pain."I am going to continue persevering. I'm going to try to do that the best I can. At what point do we keep continue taking a hit on a personal level for a business, but it’s also my dream. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A broken fire hydrant sent thousands of gallons of water gushing into the air Friday, damaging home on the 5100 block of Mariner Drive, near Otay Mesa.  The home received flood damage on the first floor of the house, as well as the yard. The cars in the driveway were drenched as well.  Water was gushing from the broken hydrant for nearly 20 minutes, according to the homeowner, Gary Birtwell.  "It was coming in through the backdoor," Birtwell said. "We had about 6 inches of water in the back yard that basically filled up above the door. And it was coming in through a closed window on the side of the house. We had water that came in through the ventilation." A neighbor's security video captured what appears to be a white SUV pulling into the curb then hitting the hydrant. Water begins gushing, and the SUV takes off.  Police officers took the neighbor's security video from the scene and were looking for more footage of the incident. 1015

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A GoFundMe page is set up for the college student who broke both legs trying to rush the field at San Diego Stadium after San Diego State Aztecs defeated Stanford.Matt Nesbitt, 25, was in a hurry to join the celebrating crowd Saturday night and jumped from the bleachers.  "I let go to drop down and immediately thought, 'This is a lot higher than I thought.'"  Nesbitt, who is a Grossmont College student, broke both tibias just above his ankle.The GoFundMe page said Nesbitt spent two nights in the hospital.  He’s expected to spend another 3-4 weeks in a wheelchair. Nesbitt told 10News he has severe lower back pain.The page is requesting ,000 for Nesbitt’s treatment.  By Wednesday, two days after its initial posting, the fund had received 7.Reflecting on his spur-of-the-moment jump...  "Don't know if I'd do it again.  I got really lucky. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 21-year-old North County man was stabbed early Saturday morning during an argument with three males over loud music, San Diego Police Department officials said.The stabbing was reported at 12:23 a.m. in the 14200 block of Cuca Street in Rancho Penasquitos, about a block away from Los Penasquitos Elementary School.Police said the man was stabbed in the right forearm during the argument. The victim's relatives transported him to a nearby hospital.The three suspects jumped into a dark vehicle and fled in an unknown direction, according to police.There is no further suspect information. 621
