Several people were hurt in an "inmate-on-inmate" disturbance at CoreCivic's Red Rock Correctional Facility in Eloy, Arizona on Sunday morning.Twelve inmates were taken to outside medical facilities for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and one staff member was treated and released for minor injuries sustained in the incident, according to Jonathan Burns, CoreCivic's Director of Public Affairs.Burns says the disturbance happened just after 8:30 a.m. local time.The facility has been secured and all inmates and staff are accounted for, Burns said. CoreCivic is working with the Arizona Department of Corrections and local law enforcement as they continue to investigate.   724

At 8 years old, Koch was diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome."I could feel it in my chest, it felt kind of like a knot pushing at my chest so I couldn't really control it," Koch said about having Tourette’s.Traditional treatments didn't make it go away completely.It broke his mother’s heart."There's nothing you can do about it," his mother said. "So, that was very hard on me and I felt for Shane and eventually he dealt with it."Now, Koch and his pup are a great team.Neurologist Dr. Arif Dalvi says Tourette’s could go away by itself, but it's always good to get help."It certainly is believable," said Dalvi. "As I said, many of these kids, the ticks burn out with no treatment, and secondly the dog is a wonderful way to reduce stress. SORRENTO VALLEY (KGTV): An 11-year old volunteer is proving that age doesn't matter when it comes to helping the hungry.Aiden Gruby has been volunteering at Feeding San Diego since he was six. His parents brought him as part of a family activity. He was hooked immediately."I think it’s really great. I love that feeling of helping people," he says.He loved it so much that his family started coming every week. When Aiden turned 10, Feeding San Diego asked him to become a team leader.Typically, the organization waits until people are 13 before they can take a leadership role.As a leader, Aiden helps with orientation and rules. He also directs volunteers as they sort food."I’m just so proud of him wanting to give back to our community," says mom Janessa Gruby. "There are kids who would rather spend their weekend playing sports, or playing video games, and he has asked us to come every weekend."Aiden says his favorite part of the job is "reclamation," which is the process of checking all incoming food for package integrity, expiration date and then sorting it by category.He has no plans to slow down any time soon."I think it’s really good to help people in need of food," he says. STANLEY, Idaho — Evacuations are underway because of a fire burning west of Stanley, Idaho.Forest spokesman Mike Williamson says the Wapiti fire is1,200 acres. The call came in at 2:12 p.m. Saturday afternoon.Boise County Sheriffs are evacuating the Sawtooth lodge, nearby campgrounds, recreational trails and residences.A type 2 incident management team has been ordered and will arrive around 6 p.m. Sunday. Williamson says seven engines, two type 1 helicopters, one type 3 helicopter, three air tankers and one hand crew are responding to the fire.There is no estimated containment at this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation. 662

SOMERSET, Wis. -- A teenager in western Wisconsin has built a device that could save lives in the event of an active shooter situation. WCCO reports that Justin Rivard, a senior at Somerset High School, came up with the idea after noticing a potential flaw in the school's emergency response plan. The 'Justinkase' lock is made with two steel plates cut to a specific shape. Handles are welded to them, and a rod and tube are welded on to connect the end place.
