Police in Delray Beach, Florida are looking for the person accused of attacking a 60-year-old man with a skateboard Sunday afternoon. The victim told police that a younger man used a skateboard as a weapon after the two exchanged words just before noon in the Dotterel Road neighborhood.The victim said he and his wife were walking around their property when they encountered a young man in a dark t-shirt, baggy shorts and dark skater sneakers.The victim's wife told police that she took a picture of the suspect because they have had problems with young men on skateboards damaging cars in the parking lot.The man with the skateboard told the victim to move, but he refused.Police said the suspect swung the skateboard, missing the victim, who fell to the ground. As he got up, he told officers that he unsuccessfully tried to push the attacker away. However the suspect, holding the skateboard in both hands, hit the man on the left side of his head, leaving him with a cut on his left ear and swelling on his head. Delray Beach Fire Rescue treated the victim at the scene of the attack. 1163

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. -- An unmasked man pulled a gun on a masked shopper and threatened to kill him during an apparent confrontation over face coverings at a Florida Walmart, deputies said.According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the store's security video shows Vincent Scavetta pushing an older man in a wheelchair through the Royal Palm Beach store on July 12.In the video, a man with his young daughter approach Scavetta and exchange words. Witnesses said the man made a comment about Scavetta not wearing a mask.The video shows Scavetta giving the shopper the middle finger before pulling a handgun from his waistband, deputies said."I'll kill you," Scavetta said, according to an arrest report.Scavetta faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and improper exhibition of a firearm. 826

Police in Wisconsin have confirmed two cases of tampered Halloween candy throughout the state.In Arcadia, Wisconsin — a town located near the Wisconsin/Minnesota border — police confirmed that at least one child found needles in multiple pieces of Halloween candy.The needles were not visible until the candy was opened and broken in half. In both instances, the needles appeared to be sewing needles.Police say the incident happened sometime during trick-or-treat hours, between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. They've warned parents in the community to check their children's candy.A few hundred miles away in Neenah, Wisconsin, police reported that nails were found in three pieces of Halloween candy.A spokesman for the Neenah Police Department said that a mother found three Kit Kat candy bars with nails protruding from them in her son's candy stash.Police suspect they can narrow down the house where the boy was given the candy, but did not say they were investigating any suspects.It's the second straight year in which a nail was found in a Neenah trick-or-treater's candy. A child found a nail hidden in a Tootsie Roll in 2016. No arrest was made in that case.Police are encouraging Neenah parents to inspect their children's candy for anything suspcious.Those reports comes just days after police in Randolph, Wisconsin — located about three hours east of Arcadia — say that a child in town received a piece of tampered candy while trick or treating on Saturday.According to police, the child received a Now and Later that appeared to have been soaked in motor oil or some other foreign substance. Police aren't sure where the child received the candy and are asking community members for tips. 1736

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman was arrested for child abuse on Sunday after deputies say she placed a 3-year-old girl unbuckled in the front seat of her vehicle and slammed on the brakes, sending the child into the windshield. Officials say that Justine Olesky, 33, was in a physical altercation with her boyfriend while the child was standing next to her. Once the boyfriend left, Olesky picked up the child and placed her in the front passenger seat without a seatbelt or car seat, according to the arrest affidavit.Pinellas County deputies say that the child is 3-years-old and weighs approximately 35 pounds.Deputies say that Olesky then proceeded after her boyfriend and accelerated to high speeds in a residential neighborhood. A witness saw the child in the front seat of the vehicle when they say Olesky was driving roughly 90 mph through the neighborhood. Once she saw her boyfriend, deputies say she slammed on her brakes causing the child to be ejected forward. This caused the child's head to strike the windshield at such a high force it shattered the windshield roughly 20 inches in diameter.Deputies say that blonde strands of hair were left in the glass from the child. According to the arrest affidavit, Olesky did not appear to be concerned for the child and continued to talk about her boyfriend even when deputies brought up the child's safety. Olesky was arrested for child abuse and domestic battery.Post Miranda, deputies say that Olesky told law enforcement that she does not remember and denies the incident. She did say that the window was not shattered prior to the incident, according to the arrest affidavit.The child was transported to the hospital. PASADENA (CNS) The 2021 Rose Bowl game has been relocated from Pasadena to Texas, leaving Southern California without its signature New Year's sporting event for the first time since 1942.Officials announced Saturday that the game -- a College Football Playoff semifinal -- will played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Jan. 1, 2021.The decision was based on ``the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Southern California along with the inability to host player and coach guests at any game in California,'' according to a statement from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.``We know that the decision was not an easy one to make,'' said David Eads, Tournament of Roses CEO and executive director. ``While we remain confident that a game could have been played at the Rose Bowl Stadium, as evident in the other collegiate and professional games taking place in the region, the projection of COVID-19 cases in the region has continued on an upward trend.''The Tournament of Roses received word late last week that the state of California would not make a special exception for player guests at the game. Since March, all sporting events played in California have been unable to host spectators and participant families. The Pasadena Tournament of Roses made its first appeal for a special exception at the Rose Bowl Game in November and made a second request to the state in December. Both requests were denied.``We are very grateful to Rose Bowl officials and the City of Pasadena. They have worked hard to listen to the concerns of the CFP, the teams that might have played there, and their state and government officials,'' said Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff.Officials have not yet determined if the game in Arlington will be called the CFP Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Capital One. The name is co-owned by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and the city of Pasadena.Since 2015, the Rose Bowl has been part of the College Football Playoff system, serving as a semifinal game every three years.The Rose Bowl is the oldest of the nation's bowl games. The first game was played in January 1902, and the annual tradition began in 1916. Since 1923 the game has been played at or near the beginning of every year at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, with the exception of 1942, when it was moved to Durham, North Carolina for security reasons during World War II.Meanwhile, USC announced Saturday that it will decline to participate in a bowl game this postseason. The Trojans were defeated, 31-24, Friday night by the Oregon Ducks, leaving their record at 5-1.The decision was made following a recommendation from the USC medical team and discussions with the Trojan football leadership council. The football program has experienced a rise in COVID-19 cases among its players and staff recently, including positive cases this past week. ``I am incredibly inspired by our players and the sacrifices they made these past six months to play the game that they love,'' Trojans coach Clay Helton said. ``They did everything we asked of them to abide by the challenging guidelines they had to follow to stay safe and well, whether it was daily testing or keeping distant from family and friends or training in less-than-ideal ways.
